Chapter 198 Judge the Judges

Seraphina’s POV

The warmth from our family afternoon lingered in my chest, but I carefully tucked it away. Today wasn’t about laughter or games by the water. Today was about fighting for the life I’d built and the children I’d die to protect.

The Council’s message had arrived that morning. They were returning. They demanded a "formal assembly." In wolf politics, that meant one thing - they wanted to put me on trial. They wanted to decide whether I was too powerful to remain free.

I stood before the floor-length mirror in my bedroom. Today, I refused to look weak. I refused to embody the "weakling" my father had always claimed I was. The dress I chose was white silk that flowed like water, matching the color of my wolf’s coat. Around my neck hung the silver pendant Julian had gifted me. The metal felt like ice against my heated skin.

My reflection stared back with brown eyes that now held flecks of white light that never dimmed.

"Ready for war?" Julian’s voice cut through my thoughts. He filled the doorway in his ceremonial black Alpha attire. Every line of his body screamed power and menace, yet his gaze held nothing but tenderness when it found mine.

"More than ready," I replied. "I’m finished cowering, Julian. I’m finished letting decrepit old wolves dictate whether I deserve to breathe."

"Perfect," he said, crossing to press his lips to my temple. "Because I’ll be watching every move they make. They so much as growl in your direction, and I’ll remind them what happens when you threaten what’s mine."

We descended to the Fang House’s grand meeting chamber.

All six Council Alphas had already assembled. The Alpha King himself had deigned to grace us with his royal presence, claiming the head seat like a throne. Their faces were carved from stone as we entered. Not one stood to acknowledge us. This was their power play - showing us exactly who they believed held authority here.

I didn’t wait for permission. I strode to the opposite end of the massive table and claimed the chair there, settling with my hands clasped before me. Julian took his place at my right shoulder.

"Luna Seraphina," Alpha Blackwood began, his voice like gravel grinding against bone. "We’ve spent considerable time discussing the incident in Jasper’s underground chamber. We’ve examined reports about those preservation vessels and the dark magic involved."

"Continue," I said coolly.

"Our concern runs deep," Alpha Ulysses interjected. A jagged scar bisected his weathered face. "A White Wolf commands the strength of countless Alphas combined. Should you choose to wage war against us, we lack the power to defend ourselves. You could conquer every territory from here to the coast."

I studied him, allowing the ghost of a smile to curve my lips. It held no warmth.

"You believe that’s my ambition?" I asked. "You think I disappeared from my children’s lives for months because I craved additional responsibilities? You think I destroyed Jasper because I wanted his lands?"

"Your intentions remain unclear," the Alpha King declared. "That uncertainty creates danger. We require assurance that you’ll respect Council authority. We’ve discussed relocating you to our headquarters. Where we can... assist you in controlling your abilities."

"Control?" The laugh that escaped me was blade-sharp in the silence. "You mean imprisonment. Exactly like Jasper wanted to trap my soul in his collection."

"It’s protective custody, not imprisonment," Ulysses protested. "For everyone’s safety."

I rose deliberately. No dramatic gestures, no slamming fists. Simply stood. But as I did, frost began creeping across the windows. The air grew thin and cold enough to see our breath.

"Hear me clearly," I said, my voice barely above a whisper yet somehow filling every inch of the room. "I am Luna of the Zenith Fang. This territory is my home. This is where my mate and children belong."

I planted my palms on the table and leaned forward.

"But you’ve overlooked something crucial," I continued. "I’m not just Luna anymore. When I defeated Jasper, when I claimed his pack’s loyalty, I became something more. I am Luna of the Zenith Fang and Alpha of the Nebula Fang."

The silence stretched like a taut wire. Several Alphas exchanged glances that reeked of fear.

"Two positions of power," I said softly. "Two packs under my protection. Two territories that will never bow to your threats."

Alpha Blackwood’s face had gone ashen. "The law states no wolf can hold dual leadership positions."

"Your laws," I corrected. "Created by wolves who never imagined someone like me would exist. But I do exist. And I’ve earned every ounce of respect these packs have given me."

"This changes nothing," the Alpha King snarled. "You still pose a threat."

"Only to those who threaten what I protect," I replied. The temperature plummeted another degree. "I have no interest in your petty territorial squabbles or political games. I want to raise my children in peace. I want to strengthen my packs and honor those who died protecting them."

I straightened, towering over them despite my smaller frame.

"But if you try to cage me, if you try to separate me from my family, if you dare suggest I’m too dangerous to exist freely..." My eyes flashed white. "Then you’ll discover exactly how dangerous I can become."

The message was crystal clear. The room reeked of their anxiety and barely controlled terror.

They’d wanted to judge me. Instead, they’d learned they were the ones being evaluated.

And they were found wanting.
