Chapter 315 - 178: Jiang Chengcheng, Danger Prediction, Swindler

In the aft cargo bay of the Dreadnought Battleship, the corpses of several Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs were laid out.

There were five in total, transported by five heavy-duty trucks.

Although each only weighed around ten tons, the sheer size of the Tiger Zergs meant that ordinary trucks simply couldn’t accommodate them.

The reason for bringing them to Jin City was, just as Lin Feng had said, that these Tiger Spine Zergs would serve as the Genetic Primordials for the seventy-two Battle Group members present.

They were the raw materials needed for genetic modification surgery.

The Genetic Essence Liquid, extracted from the brain tissue of the Tiger Spine Zergs, would be injected into the test subjects.

However, just one was enough for twenty to thirty people.

Once they had loaded the cargo and boarded the troop transports, Lin Feng got into a military jeep, with Ling Yi sitting beside him, and gave the order to move out.

"Why are we leaving so early? I’m not even awake yet."

Ling Yi complained, letting out a yawn.

She was growing more and more accustomed to life as a human. However, with over a thousand points in her Spiritual Attribute contained within a head only the size of a football, and with no Biological Nest to serve as a power bank, she needed a long rest to recover her energy every time she used her Mental Realm.

Lin Feng smiled.

"This is a heavy mission. It’s better to be quick about it."

With that, he stepped on the gas and led the way.

Several military jeeps, two passenger buses, and five heavy-duty trucks, fully loaded with personnel and supplies, departed from the camp. They entered the elevated highway, heading northwest toward Jin City.

The desolate road was lined with abandoned, dust-covered wrecks. At critical checkpoints, vehicles left behind by refugees had completely blocked all lanes of traffic.

Fortunately, Han Yuxin had previously sent people to clear a two-lane path through each blockade to facilitate the transport of goods between the two locations, allowing trucks to pass smoothly.

For Awakeners, a car weighing several tons could be easily lifted and moved by just six or seven people. Even large trucks could be pushed aside.

The entrance to the highway now had just such a cleared path.

Once on the highway, the convoy’s speed increased sharply, and they reached the outskirts of Jin City in just an hour and a half.

Here, the communication signal finally returned to full strength.

After Han Yuxin consolidated the survivor factions, much of the infrastructure had been restored.

This included the most vital of all: basic communication services.

They were even burning fuel for additional power generation to keep the signal towers between Jin City and Wu City operational.

Long before their departure, Han Yuxin had arranged for guide vehicles along the route to lead Lin Feng and his people smoothly into Jin City’s current temporary base.

By the time the military jeeps and heavy-duty trucks pulled up to the Riverfront Pier, Han Yuxin was already waiting with a group of people on the adjacent road to welcome Lin Feng.

When the seventy-two Tier Two Awakeners disembarked and assembled in formation under Lin Feng’s command, the aura they projected made the legs of the watching survivors, who had gathered at the street corner, tremble with fear.

Among the onlookers were several faction leaders who had been sensible enough to surrender. Most of them were Tier One Early Stage Awakeners, or not even Awakeners at all—just Enhanced People who had only ever killed Red-Armored Beetles.

According to Han Yuxin’s propaganda, the hundred-plus Tier One Awakeners who had swept through the entire Jin City District represented less than five percent of their backer’s total forces.

By absorbing the defeated remnants of the Thirteenth Division, Lin Feng’s power had expanded severalfold in just one week. He now commanded several thousand Awakeners, including over one hundred and sixty Tier Two Awakeners.

A force this powerful was among the absolute elite, not just in Jiangnan Province, but across the entire Federation.

Outside of the Capital, which was currently embroiled in a life-or-death defensive war, nowhere else could muster such a formidable lineup.

The arrival of these seventy-two Tier Two Awakeners served as direct proof that Han Yuxin’s claims were no exaggeration, while also intimidating any ambitious individuals lurking in the shadows.

After all, a single Tier Two Awakener was capable of slaughtering their way through a small faction of nearly a thousand people.

When one’s physical strength exceeded ten tons and their burst speed surpassed one hundred meters per second, every Tier Two Awakener could be considered a real-life Superman.

Out on their own, any one of them could easily take over a small city and establish their own survivor base.

Of course, besides highlighting her faction’s strength, Han Yuxin’s grand welcome was also meant to pave the way and build momentum for Lin Feng’s eventual takeover.

This was also why she hadn’t publicized the fact that Lin Feng’s unit was the Federation Army’s Thirteenth Division.

While doing so would have quickly won public support and ensured the stability of the temporary base...

...the Thirteenth Division was a designation granted by the Federation.

Lin Feng couldn’t afford to give anyone that kind of leverage or pretext. Once the decisive battle in Wu City was over, all existing systems and titles would be torn down and rebuilt.

He had no desire to be hamstrung by the Northwest Safety Zone’s provisional council when he established his permanent base in the future.

Certain plans had to be laid from the very beginning.

For instance, the titles related to his origins.

In her propaganda, Han Yuxin had deliberately drawn a line between her own faction and the Thirteenth Division that had crossed the river and departed.

Lin Feng was not the successor to the Thirteenth Division’s commander. Instead, he was a commoner from Hai City who had risen to the top, now commanding a mighty force and serving as the savior who held the Wu City defense line after the Thirteenth Division’s departure.

The Thirteenth Division’s resolute withdrawal had, at the time, caused a considerable stir and panic within the Jin City District.

Many opportunists, seeing which way the wind was blowing, spent their entire fortunes just to secure a ticket on one of the departing ships, or fled overnight with their families in tow.

The Thirteenth Division’s withdrawal had also removed the last shackles of restraint from the gang-like factions within Jin City, allowing them to prey on civilians with even greater impunity.
