Theo’s umbrella had barely opened before everyone moved.
’’Let’s go!’’ Jim shouted, jumping off the dune towards the lower-ranking Cobras.
Iris followed after him right away, hundreds of small metal petals forming in the air around her.
As they dashed forward, the serpents began noticing them too.
HISSSSS! HISSSSS!
They began hissing amongst each other as a purple fog spread out around their bodies.
’’Long range it is!’’ Jim shouted, sliding to a halt.
A concentrated orb filled with light mana formed between his hands.
After only a second, a massive beam of light shot forward.
It was so bright that the entire desert lit up around them.
Even the serpents’ shadows inside the purple fog became clearly visible!
ZZZZZZZ!!!
Like a laser, he dragged it through the purple smoke.
Wherever it went, the desert ground turned to glass, and serpents were sliced through like butter.
’’Haha!’’ he laughed. ’’That’s much better than against that big worm!’’
The D-rank Cobras were wiped out in an instant, leaving just the ten C-ranks behind.
Unlike the D-ranks, the C-ranks proved much more of a challenge.
It took Jim several seconds to melt through the first C-rank.
The remaining nine immediately split apart into three groups.
Two burrowed under the sand, while the other seven spread out to encircle them.
’’You take the right,’’ Jim said, stopping his beam.
Before any of them could react, though, a storm of metal petals swept towards the burrowed Cobras.
Once there, they began swirling rapidly around their locations like a tornado.
HISSSS!
The first Cobra was pulled out of the ground and sucked into the petal storm.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Petal after petal violently ripped its body apart.
Its blood sputtered out in every direction before suddenly freezing.
’’I’ll take the right, yes,’’ Iris replied softly.
Jim raised an eyebrow as he watched the blood start transforming into needles.
...
Half a minute earlier, Theo had also started sprinting towards the King Cobra.
Lightning crackled around his body as his veins lit up yellow.
Before long, even his pupils vanished as light shone brightly from his eyes.
Within seconds, he’d closed the distance between himself and the massive King Cobra.
HISSSSS!!!
The King Cobra hissed loudly.
In an instant, a cloud of purple mist spread out dozens of yards around its body.
Yet, Theo continued charging completely undisturbed.
’’Feng!’’ he shouted. ’’Give me a boost!’’
The little Unicorn’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Without saying a word, it gently tapped the emerald cloud beneath it.
WHOOSH!
Streams of wind gathered around Theo’s body, making him practically weightless.
And that wasn’t all.
It had also completely removed the wind resistance around him!
’’That’s more like it!" Theo shouted with a smile.
BOOM!
The dune beneath his feet turned to glass as he kicked off.
His figure became a bolt of lightning, shooting forward at a speed several times greater than before.
The King Cobra’s pupils narrowed.
Even it hadn’t expected such a sudden burst of speed.
In the blink of an eye, Theo had already crossed the poisonous mist.
The King Cobra immediately opened its mouth.
A massive wave of dark green poison blew straight towards Theo.
’It’s not acid,’ he thought, smiling.
Without hesitation, he dove straight through the mist.
The King Cobra’s pupils visibly contracted.
Genuine confusion appeared in its eyes as it watched the human dart through its poison.
The confusion only grew worse as the human didn’t collapse within seconds!
A faint smile appeared on Theo’s face.
’’Surprise, surprise,’’ he muttered.
He slid across the sand, gathering strength in his legs.
CRACKLE!
Lightning erupted beneath his feet as he launched himself into the air.
He shot straight towards the King Cobra’s neck as lightning began crackling around his umbrella.
The King Cobra snapped out of its daze and reacted instantly.
RUMBLE!
Massive desert-colored rocks began growing around its scales.
Within moments, the earth armor had covered nearly its entire neck.
BOOM!
The tip of Theo’s umbrella slammed into it with terrifying force.
Lightning exploded in every direction as it disintegrated straight through the stone.
Just as it reached the Cobra’s neck, it let out a loud hiss.
Its enormous tail blurred as it whipped through the air, heading straight for Theo.
Theo’s eyes narrowed.
’Fast!’
There was no time to continue his attack.
Lightning erupted beneath his feet as he kicked off the Cobra’s body.
WHOOSH!
The tail barely missed him as he flickered away.
Even so, the King Cobra’s eyes never left him for a second.
Theo’s speed barely meant anything compared to the reaction speed of a B-rank creature.
RUMBLE!!!
The desert beneath Theo suddenly began trembling.
Hundreds, no, thousands of jagged stone spikes grew from the sand in every direction.
Within an instant, everything inside a one hundred yard radius had become nothing more than razor-sharp skewers.
Theo’s eyes widened.
’’Feng!’’ he shouted as he fell through the air. ’’Now would be a good time to catch me!’’
But his troubles weren’t over yet.
Massive spikes, each easily the size of a car, began forming above the King Cobra.
Within seconds, dozens of gigantic stone lances began tilting towards him.
’’FENG!’’ he shouted once more.
WHOOSH!
An emerald blur shot beneath him.
Before Theo could fall any further, a large unicorn swept underneath him.
Theo landed firmly on its back and immediately grabbed on tightly.
It didn’t say a word as wind mana kept the thin purple poison cloud away from its body.
As the King Cobra launched the massive stone lances, another wave of green mana erupted from Feng’s body.
WHOOSH!
Each lance changed direction just slightly.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
One after another, they slammed into the spiked ground below, creating massive craters left and right.
The collisions shook the desert, sending up waves of sand and shattered stone.
Theo glanced at the destruction for a moment.
’’Feng,’’ he called out. ’’Bring me up higher into the sky.’’
The unicorn didn’t hesitate.
It immediately spread its wings and began soaring higher into the sky.
At the same time, two massive lightning bolts began growing by Theo’s side.
