’’Feng,’’ Theo called, his voice growing calmer. ’’Did you see the spot where its initial injuries were?’’
The unicorn’s ears perked up.
’’No,’’ it finally replied.
Theo’s brows furrowed for a moment.
’’But...’’ Feng continued. ’’I can show it to you.’’
Tilting his head slightly, Theo couldn’t help but glance down.
’’What do you me—’’
Before he could finish speaking, a faint emerald green light began glowing around Feng’s body.
His mane slowly started rising into the air, fluttering violently through the wind.
The light only grew brighter and brighter as Feng rose high above the King Cobra.
WHOOSH!
Feng’s eyes lit up with the same emerald light.
Suddenly, the winds began changing around them.
Every grain of sand within hundreds of yards began rising into the air while the poison clouds shook.
’’What the...?’’
Theo stared on with wide eyes.
Suddenly, a green vortex formed in the sky to his right.
Then another on his left.
Followed by two more behind and in front of him.
Before he could even react, four colossal emerald tornadoes formed around the King Cobra.
Each one was easily over two hundred yards tall.
The surrounding dunes collapsed beneath their overwhelming pull.
Sand, boulders, poison, even acid.
Everything was dragged into the violent currents.
HISSSS!!!
The King Cobra’s furious hisses barely echoed over the roaring winds.
It plunged its tail deep into the ground, even forming a solid field of earth around it just to keep itself from soaring into the air.
Even though it’d managed to save itself... its poison clouds didn’t stand a chance.
Within only a few seconds, every trace of the purple mist had been ripped apart and scattered across the desert.
Just like that, the battlefield had become crystal clear once more.
Theo quickly shook his head.
Now wasn’t the time to be shocked by Feng’s spells.
Instead, his gaze immediately swept over the King Cobra’s body.
’’There!’’ he practically shouted.
None of its body was covered by earth scales anymore.
Except for one place.
On the back of its neck sat a thick rock plate.
’Seeing how well it’s protecting that place,’ he thought, nodding once. ’That must be the injured area.’
Without another thought, he patted Feng’s mane.
’’I got it,’’ he said. ’’You can stop now.’’
Feng nodded once.
The emerald light immediately began fading from its body.
’’Contractor,’’ its voice rang out. ’’You really have to get stronger after this.’’
It paused for a moment. ’’Restricting myself to this level is atrocious.’’
Theo nodded right away.
’’Don’t worry about it,’’ he said.
Slowly, the four massive tornadoes began dissipating around them.
Only then did they notice the two massive stone slabs that had just barely cracked out of the ground below.
Each looked like a skipping stone, except they were now over a hundred yards long.
HISSSS!
The massive plates shot through the sky, heading straight towards them.
’’Oh fuck!’’ Theo cursed as large shadows grew over them.
It was clear the creature was trying to squash them between rocks like flies!
And worse... there was no way he or Feng could dodge in time.
’Then I’ll just have to take it!’ he thought, glancing down.
Without hesitation, a white swirling portal opened up beneath Feng.
The portal sucked him inside in an instant.
At the same time, a gray robe appeared around Theo’s body from thin air.
The moment it wrapped itself around him, it lit up in a bright silver light.
WHOOM!
A small but incredibly dense barrier popped up around him just in time.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The two massive earth plates slammed into him simultaneously.
The impact echoed through the desert, its shockwave practically blasting up a sandstorm.
For a brief moment, the two enormous slabs remained pressed together.
CRACK!
Thin cracks slowly began spreading across their surface.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
The cracks spread out like a spiderweb until the giant stone plates could no longer withstand the pressure from within.
BOOM!
Both slabs exploded into countless chunks of rubble.
Amongst them was a single silver ball, completely intact.
Theo gritted his teeth as the barrier began to fade around him.
’’I was saving this,’’ he muttered, glancing down.
The robe, now completely drained of mana, disappeared back into his spatial ring right away.
Only a moment later, a dark cloak wrapped itself around his body instead.
Just before Theo hit the ground, his body merged into a nearby shadow.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Stones began clattering to the ground everywhere.
Theo slowly emerged between them, his umbrella snapped open above his head.
The King Cobra narrowed its eyes, having noticed him immediately.
Just as it was about to move again, a large beam of light dragged over the side of its body.
’’Hey!’’ Jim shouted loudly. ’’Look over here!’’
The King Cobra immediately turned to the sound.
Its mouth slowly opened, new acid gathering inside.
Just then, thousands of metallic petals shot through the air.
They whistled past the Cobra’s head before swirling back around.
HISSSS!
The serpent didn’t even bother dodging, as they posed no threat to it.
Suddenly, the petals changed direction.
Like a swarm of locusts, they shot straight into the King Cobra’s open mouth.
The serpent’s pupils contracted into tiny slits.
HISSS?!
Hundreds of petals slammed into the forming acid, disrupting it completely.
The rest gathered around its fangs, sticking to them like bad tartar, completely preventing more acid from flowing out.
Even as the Cobra forced out more acid, Iris kept sending petals to replace the melting ones.
Theo couldn’t help but grin.
’’Thanks, everyone.’’
Two enormous lightning spheres condensed beside him, crackling so violently that the surrounding air began to flicker.
Without hesitation, he shot them high into the sky.
The spheres rapidly started swirling around each other, even attracting the Cobra’s attention.
Sensing danger, the beast quickly began to move.
Just then, Feng’s voice rang out from inside.
’’Contractor,’’ it said. ’’Let me out. I’ll keep it in place.’’
Theo nodded immediately.
A large portal opened up beside him right away.
Feng immediately dashed out, an emerald green light already shining around his body.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
At the same time, dark clouds had already started forming high in the sky.
Theo’s smile widened as he glanced at the King Cobra.
’’This is it,’’ he muttered. ’’Try and survive.’’
