WHAT Hyunsik hadn’t expected was for Kang Haneul to point at him the moment he was about to lose consciousness. His dislike for Hyunsik must have fueled that. Then Lim Suho had to open his mouth and add his own annoying suspicions. That was probably why he was sitting alone in this room right now.

He wasn’t worried, though. He was confident they wouldn’t find any evidence. He’d only brought one pill, so there was nothing to find in his luggage. And when he’d broken it in half and slipped the pieces into two glasses of iced tea, he’d made sure no camera in the restaurant caught him. This wasn’t difficult because the restaurant was old and had very few cameras to begin with. He wasn’t even sure if the ones there were functional.

And even if, by some miracle, the cameras had caught him, he still wouldn’t have worried. His family wouldn’t let him end up in jail or have what he did spread online. Not just because they couldn’t stand seeing the family name dragged through the mud, but because their mother favored him. She would make his father’s life a living hell if he didn’t get Hyunsik out of whatever trouble he’d landed himself in. Not that Hyunsik considered what he did wrong. He was just teaching Omegas a lesson they needed to learn. Luckily, his father agreed with him. So, after a brief scolding to be more discreet, his father would always have someone clean up the mess, making it as if Hyunsik had never done anything at all.

None of that would have been possible without his family’s influence. The Jeon family was a well known name in the country’s pharmaceutical industry, a business that was essentially a goldmine. As the youngest son, Hyunsik never had to worry about responsibility. He could do whatever he wanted. And what he wanted just happened to be becoming an idol. He had the face and the talent for it, so why not?

It just so happened that Vnet had posted an audition notice for a new idol survival program. So he auditioned. Of course, he passed. What he hadn’t expected was that Omegas would be accepted too. Betas he could tolerate. They had their place in society, like worker ants. But Omegas? Well, they were nice to look at. Even better to bed. But sharing a stage, let alone a group, with Alphas and Betas? He could barely imagine something like that.

But Hyunsik had to put on an act for the cameras. So he’d been on his best behavior. Until Kang Haneul came along and stirred something primal in him. He wanted to shove him down and just take him. He’d almost lost control a few times during practice. That was why his pheromones had leaked onto Haneul more than once. Annoyingly, the other never even seemed to notice.

He thought he’d finally get a chance to cop a feel, maybe even more, once the pill forced Kang Haneul’s heat. If the pill had taken effect faster, he could have taken advantage of the moment when they split up to search for clues and made sure he ended up alone with Kang Haneul. But who could have predicted the pill would take so long to kick in? It was a high dosage, so even cut in half, the effect should have been immediate. The fact that it took that long meant Kang Haneul must be a recessive Omega.

A wave of disgust rolled through Hyunsik. The only thing worse than being an Omega was being a recessive Omega. He couldn’t believe someone who acted superior to him was only a recessive. He should have believed that annoying Choi Yujin when he’d heard him shouting about Kang Haneul being recessive. But really, could anyone blame him? Recessive Omegas didn’t usually have the kind of looks or charm that Kang Haneul had. It was practically a scam. Like being catfished.

Now he felt even more justified in what he’d done. The only regret he had was not getting a taste of Kang Haneul. Recessive or not, he was still mouthwatering to look at.

He raised his fist to his mouth, hiding a yawn behind it. He was getting seriously bored waiting here. When was someone finally going to show up?

As if responding to his thoughts, the door finally swung open. He turned to see a staff member enter. Hyunsik was already preparing to put on a weak, pitiful act to gather sympathy, but the muscles in his face froze when he saw the two figures following behind the staff.

They wore plain, dark jackets and stood with a quiet, alert stillness. One was tall and broad-shouldered, with a clean-shaven head and a steady gaze that swept the room before landing on Hyunsik. The other was shorter and leaner, with sharp eyes and a calm, watchful expression. Neither appeared to be program staff.

With how often Hyunsik had run-ins with the law, he could tell right away that the two men were cops. What the hell were they doing here? Was this about Kang Haneul? He refused to believe that. How could they have gathered enough evidence to bring in the police already?

But the two men didn’t seem to care what he believed. The broad-shouldered one stepped forward and walked straight toward him.

"Are you Jeon Hyunsik?" the man asked.

Hyunsik’s jaw tightened at the man’s dismissive tone. The way he spoke felt like he was looking down on him. How dare he? But he forced himself to keep his composure and answered, "Yes, I’m Jeon Hyunsik."

"You’re under arrest for the unlawful administration of a controlled substance with intent to induce an Omega’s heat without consent, in violation of the Omega Protection Act," the cop said in a flat voice. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, an attorney will be provided for you."

Before Hyunsik could even process what the officer had just said, the other cop had already moved behind him and snapped handcuffs around his wrists. The cold metal bit into his skin, and his arms were pulled back tightly.
