SONG KYUNGHO walked into the police station. When one of the assistant PDs had called and told him the police had come to the ship and arrested Jeon Hyunsik, he’d had his niece drive him over immediately.
He hadn’t expected the investigation to move this fast. It hadn’t even been a full day, only a few hours, and the police had already arrested Jeon Hyunsik. This was probably the quickest arrest he’d ever witnessed. He’d honestly thought the owner of JH Entertainment wouldn’t care much about any of this. But apparently, he cared enough to act on Jung Taeyang’s request. They were cousins, after all.
Kyungho guessed that the person who had really pushed for this to happen was Choi Jiyeon. That woman could be relentless when she wanted to be. Lee Jaehyun had probably just provided the money and resources to speed things up, but it was Choi Jiyeon who had arranged everything.
As proof, when they’d spoken over the phone while he was waiting at the hospital, Choi Jiyeon had told him a team of investigators was already on their way to Jeju. He had no idea how they’d gotten here so fast or how they’d managed to gather enough evidence for the local police to make an arrest this quickly. What he did know was that he just wanted this whole thing to be over.
"Uncle, what if someone snapped a photo of Jeon Hyunsik being led out of the ship by the police?" Soojin asked, her voice laced with worry. "Wouldn’t that hurt the show’s reputation?"
Truthfully, she was surprised nothing had been posted online yet. She’d been checking forums and social media sites ever since everything had happened, but there was nothing. Which was strange in itself. With how the internet worked, anything could be captured and shared within minutes. Especially when it involved a show as popular as Boys Odyssey, where even a small post could blow up immediately. That was why she found it so strange that nothing had surfaced yet.
There were the people at the hospital. Surely at least one nosy nurse had taken a photo of Kang Haneul and posted it somewhere. Or even a random patient or their relative could have done it. Then there were the people at the waterfall who had seen Kang Haneul collapse. Had no one really captured what happened? Even if they didn’t know the full story, someone could have recorded a video and put it online. Then netizens would have done what they always do, digging until they uncovered the truth. And now there was Jeon Hyunsik’s arrest. Soojin figured the bastard who had drugged an Omega without hesitation wouldn’t have gone quietly with the police He would have fought back, snarled, and made a scene. And yet, there was still nothing online.
"Don’t overthink it," Kyungho said, waving a hand dismissively. "People from JH Entertainment are already handling the situation. They’re making sure nothing gets out."
That was another thing he and Choi Jiyeon had discussed. She’d even said she would handle things on the Vnet side, so he should just focus on what was happening here in Jeju. The woman had grit. He had no doubt she would follow through on what she’d said. So he was just as determined to do his part properly.
Soojin blinked at her uncle’s words, then let out a low whistle. "Wow. They’re really taking this seriously."
"They should," Kyungho said. "And it helps that they have the money to make sure things get done."
The two of them stepped inside the station. The front desk sat against one wall, with a tired looking officer typing something into a computer behind it. There were a few desks scattered about, some covered with papers, others empty. A couple of officers walked past, carrying file folders or cups of coffee. Fluorescent lights hummed overhead, and the air smelled faintly of instant coffee. Near the back, a hallway led to what looked like holding rooms and interview rooms.
Kyungho was about to walk to the front desk when the station door opened, and Jeon Hyunsik walked in between two policemen, his hands cuffed behind his back.
"You can’t do this to me," Jeon Hyunsik said, his voice climbing higher. "My father is Jeon Sungwoo. Do you even know who that is? My family has connections everywhere. You’re making a huge mistake. I want my phone call. Now." He kept his head high, refusing to show any sign of weakness. "You can’t hold me here without letting me contact my family. That’s illegal."
He still couldn’t believe he’d been cuffed and dragged to a police station. He’d had run ins with the law before, but it had never reached this point. Before things could escalate, his father had always made the problem disappear. Even when they’d pushed him into the patrol car, he’d half expected it all to be a joke. It wasn’t until they’d walked him through the station doors that the reality of it finally hit him. The smug confidence he’d been holding onto was now laced with something else. Fear. And worry.
The broad-shouldered cop let out a scoff. "Yeah, I bet you know a lot about illegal things."
The lean cop let out a short chuckle. "Easy now. The kid’s clearly sensitive."
The comment hit Hyunsik like a slap. Humiliation set his face ablaze and rage surged through him. "You think this is funny?" he spat. "You have no idea who you’re dealing with. I’ll make sure you both regret this."
Kyungho almost winced at the arrogance. Just who did Jeon Hyunsik think he was? Even the son of the president wouldn’t be that entitled. Well, maybe he would, but still.
"Uncle, maybe we shouldn’t let him see us," Soojin whispered. "What if he asks us to bail him out?"
Despite himself, Kyungho nearly snorted. But it turned out they didn’t need to worry about that, because a man in a suit stepped up to Jeon Hyunsik from behind before he could even glance their way.
"I don’t think you’ll be making anyone regret anything, Jeon Hyunsik-ssi," the man in the suit said. "I’m Attorney Cho from Taesung Group. And I’ll be making sure you’re tried to the fullest extent of the law."
