When they didn’t have enough to eat, they endured starvation. When they were bullied and humiliated, they swallowed their anger. But now that the Evolution Divine Teachings had been expelled, they rose up in protest.
"What a group of devout believers," Mr. Ya remarked with a touch of sarcasm and turned to leave.
The more he saw, the more disappointed he became in the country—not in the foolish protesters, but in its rulers.
He had only taken a couple of steps when he heard someone call his name. He looked up and exclaimed in delight, "Boss!"
Su Ze walked over to him and handed him a second-generation Spirit Communication Phone. "Switch to this," he said. "It’ll be much more convenient to contact each other from now on."
He then asked, "Any progress?"
Mr. Ya knew what Su Ze was asking. "I tailed Draco for two days," he answered. "During that time, he left the city carrying a large amount of supplies and met with two of the Tainted.
"I found that the supplies Draco purchased were almost all local specialties from Luofan Country, not the daily necessities I’d expected."
Normally, since the Tainted give off a foul stench and are unwelcome in any major human settlement, they should be short on many basic supplies. But what Draco was actually procuring for the Filth Earth Organization was mostly evolution materials native to Luofan Country.
Su Ze thought for a moment. "That makes sense," he said. "Ancient An Country is right next door. The Filth Earth Organization can get plenty of supplies from there."
Mr. Ya nodded. "That’s what I thought, too. So I stopped tailing Draco and followed the two Tainted instead. It turns out they took a roundabout path and entered Ancient An Country directly through a secret passage.
"I followed them underground and eventually discovered they entered a desolate mountain within Ancient An Country, near the border.
"I was about to follow them further, but my ’Danger Warning’ ability gave me a strong alert. I knew that pressing on would be life-threatening, so I pulled back immediately."
Just as Su Ze had thought, the Filth Earth Organization hadn’t built a base in the nearby wilderness. Instead, they had established it directly inside Ancient An Country.
Su Ze mused on this. He wasn’t dead set on eradicating the Filth Earth Organization’s base. In his heart, dealing with the Nian Race was far more urgent.
No matter how despicable the Tainted were, they were an internal problem for Blue Star. The Nian Race, on the other hand, were alien invaders.
However, he was determined to get his hands on the puzzle piece held by Pulamon, the Great Elder of the Filth Earth Organization.
The members of the Filth Earth Organization were secretive and difficult to track. For Su Ze to find Pulamon, this base was his only lead.
When the Blue Star Party eventually pushed Ancient An Country out as a shield to attract the Nian Race’s attention, the resulting conflict between the Nian Race and the Filth Earth Organization might lure Pulamon into revealing himself.
And that day wasn’t far off. From what Mr. Ke and Chen Suifeng had said, it would likely happen in the next few days.
Su Ze couldn’t just sit around and wait for that to happen. He decided to go with Mr. Ya to scout out the Filth Earth Organization’s base in Ancient An Country, get a feel for the situation, and do some reconnaissance.
Mr. Ya, of course, had no objections. After making brief preparations, he led the way as they slipped quietly into the neighboring Ancient An Country.
With their level of power, the border defenses were a mere formality. They crossed over with ease and sped onward, arriving near the desolate mountain Mr. Ya had mentioned.
Gazing at the barren mountain ahead, they saw it was bare of even a single tree, with only a few scattered weeds. Coupled with the inherent danger of its proximity to the border, the area was virtually deserted.
Before approaching the desolate mountain, Su Ze asked Mr. Ya, "Is your ’Danger Warning’ ability going off this time?"
Mr. Ya shook his head. He had sensed danger when he came alone, but with Su Ze beside him, the warning from his ability was gone.
