The parasitic water ball seized the opportunity to invade Pulamon’s mind, devouring his brain and infiltrating his soul.
Just then, Su Ze felt the timer on his Bloodthirsty skill about to expire. If he didn’t score another kill soon, the skill would be broken.
His Perception Tentacles swept over the area as he prepared to remotely electrocute another Defiler to keep his skill active. But then he froze in astonishment... ’Where are all the Pupa Stage and Cocoon Stage Defilers who were watching the fight?’
’Why have all the low-level Defilers scattered?’
Su Ze hadn’t yet realized this was all his doing.
Every ten seconds or so, he would randomly select one "lucky" Defiler to be "rewarded" with a bolt from the heavens. What kind of Defiler would dare stick around for that?
They had been scared off long ago!
In the eyes of those low-level Defilers, Su Ze was utterly terrifying! He was unpredictable, cruel, and bloodthirsty, killing one of their own for fun whenever he felt like it.
Just as Su Ze was wracking his brain over who to kill to keep his skill active, Mr. Ya flew over from the distance, dragging three unconscious Defilers.
Mr. Ya had brought him three more captives.
’Mr. Ya really gets me...’ Su Ze sent a telepathic message telling Mr. Ya to separate the three. A thick bolt of lightning then struck down, instantly killing one of them.
There weren’t many, so he had to use them sparingly.
Meanwhile, Pulamon had barely managed to block the attacks from Su Ze and Deng Sui, but he was injured in the process.
He rapidly put some distance between himself and the duo, simultaneously focusing his Spiritual Power to expel the water ball that had invaded his brain.
But just then, a wave of drowsiness washed over him, making him feel groggy. His focus wavered for a moment, giving the parasitic water ball an opening to further corrode his consciousness.
The sudden drowsiness was from the Sleep Poison, an effect of the "Needle Strike" skill. The "strongest punch" Su Ze had just landed was a fusion that included "Needle Strike," so it naturally carried the Sleep Poison too.
Against a Legendary-level lifeform, the Sleep Poison didn’t put Pulamon to sleep instantly, but it was enough to cause a significant disturbance.
Pulamon had a decent resistance to toxins. He opened his mouth and spat out a glob of black, toxic phlegm, expelling most of the Sleep Poison from his system. The small amount that remained was unlikely to pose a major threat.
But before he could refocus his efforts on resisting the water ball’s invasion, Su Ze slammed into him with another Rhino Charge.
Su Ze’s mountainous frame crashed violently into Pulamon, smashing him from ten thousand meters high down to the ground. Then, another Gravity Chain shot out and yanked him back.
The impact damage from the Rhino Charge didn’t pose much of a threat to Pulamon. However, the Dizziness effect activated, leaving him unable to fight against Su Ze’s Gravity Chain in his stunned state.
Su Ze’s goal right now wasn’t to kill Pulamon, but to interfere with and distract him, making it impossible for him to focus on fighting the parasitic water ball.
In the initial volley, both Su Ze and Deng Sui had used powerful offensive skills to injure Pulamon. For Su Ze, an injury of this degree was enough; it was equivalent to applying a weakening debuff to Pulamon.
From then on, all he needed to do was apply various forms of interference and control, slowly grinding Pulamon down until the Blood and Flesh Parasite finished its work.
Deng Sui, however, clearly had other ideas. Whether it was intentional or he had genuinely failed to guess Su Ze’s true objective, he seized the opportunity created by Su Ze’s control effect to unleash a furious barrage of attacks on Pulamon with all his might.
A frenzy of skills slammed into Pulamon, leaving his body mangled and causing him to vomit blood repeatedly.
Luckily, the control effect wore off. Pulamon broke free and rapidly began to heal his wounds.
Deng Sui was relentless and continued his assault. Seeing this, Su Ze decided to start slacking off.
If he joined the attack, he was afraid they would kill Pulamon long before the parasite could finish its work.
With Su Ze holding back, the pressure on Pulamon lessened considerably. He could now barely manage to fend off Deng Sui’s attacks. The parasitic water mass had successfully invaded his mind and brain, severely hampering his combat strength. Even in a one-on-one against Deng Sui, he was now on the losing end.
"Why aren’t you attacking?" Deng Sui actually turned and asked Su Ze.
"Unlike you, Mr. Deng, I’m not a true Legendary. My combat power is just barely boosted by my skills, and I’m exhausted now. I need a moment to recover," Su Ze said, panting heavily and putting on a show of overexertion.
Deng Sui said nothing. But to Su Ze’s surprise, a moment later, he also started slacking off and pulling his punches.
On the surface, his fight with Pulamon seemed evenly matched, but in reality, he wasn’t using more than a fraction of his strength.
This relieved the pressure on Pulamon, allowing him to dedicate a great deal of energy to fighting the water mass in his brain.
Pulamon had no idea why his two opponents were suddenly pulling their punches in unison. He couldn’t make sense of it, but that didn’t stop him from seizing the opportunity to expel the water mass from his brain.
Su Ze shot Deng Sui a look. ’That bastard is definitely doing this on purpose!’
He had only suspected Deng Sui was also a member of the Nian Race before, but now he was almost certain.
Though annoyed, he couldn’t just stand by and watch the parasite fail. He had no choice but to charge forward again, hitting Pulamon with a control combo of Rhino Charge, Needle Strike, and Furious Waves.
But the moment Su Ze made his move, Deng Sui, as if injected with stimulants, charged in and unleashed another furious assault.
Pulamon’s expression darkened, not that anyone could tell.
’Are these two guys insane?’ he wondered.
’One minute they’re fighting, the next they’re both pulling their punches. Now they’re charging at me together like a pair of rabid dogs.’
That combination attack from the two of them had nearly been the end of him.
Just when he was about to give up all resistance, the two of them backed off again, one after the other.
Pulamon’s expression grew even darker, though it was still impossible to see... ’Are you two just toying with me?’
