Evolvers maintained order and directed traffic. The process was orderly and swift, and anyone who caused trouble was promptly punished.
But evacuating an entire city took too much time. Chen Suifeng and his comrades had been holding out for a long time and were on the verge of collapse.
But there was nothing they could do except grit their teeth and persevere. Every minute they held on meant that tens of thousands more people could be saved.
All the Venerable Powerhouses were covered in wounds. Using Rank 6 artifacts beyond their limits for so long had placed a heavy burden on them, and every one of them was utterly exhausted.
Inevitably, flaws began to appear in their coordination.
A Two-headed White Tiger dozens of meters long found an opening, broke through their encirclement, and charged into the city!
The color drained from the faces of Chen Suifeng and his comrades.
"You all hold the line! I’ll go stop it!"
Chen Suifeng broke away from the fight and flew after the Two-headed White Tiger.
As a Rank 6 beast, the Two-headed White Tiger possessed remarkable intelligence. With a single glance, it suddenly flew toward a large bridge inside the city.
’This is bad!’ Panic flared in Chen Suifeng’s heart. That bridge was a vital traffic artery. If the Two-headed White Tiger destroyed it, the citizens still in the city would be forced to take a much longer detour to evacuate.
Air transport capacity was limited; ground routes were still the primary means of evacuation.
With a burst of speed, Chen Suifeng shot forward a great distance, his hands transforming into a pair of enormous, misty hands to block the Two-headed White Tiger’s path.
But how could he possibly stop the Two-headed White Tiger alone? The misty hands were effortlessly torn to shreds by the tiger’s claws.
White light erupted from one of the Two-headed White Tiger’s mouths, and it fired a beam of energy from a distance, blasting it toward the bridge’s surface.
Seeing this, Chen Suifeng gritted his teeth and blocked the energy beam with his own body. It instantly pierced him, leaving a massive, bloody hole that nearly tore him in two.
He grabbed a handful of Healing Medicine, stuffed it into his mouth, and once again stood in the Two-headed White Tiger’s way.
The Rank 6 artifact in his hand was the tail of some unknown animal, which he wielded like a whip, lashing out at the Two-headed White Tiger.
With a loud CRACK, the whip tore a gash in the white tiger’s hide so deep the bone was visible.
The Two-headed White Tiger opened its mouth again, spitting out another beam of white light aimed at Chen Suifeng’s head.
SWOOSH!
The Beast Tail Whip shot from his hand, wrapping around one of the Two-headed White Tiger’s heads like a rope and causing the beam of white light in its mouth to fizzle out.
But just then, the Two-headed White Tiger’s other head also opened its maw!
Black energy, reeking of destruction, swirled within its jaws. It lunged forward, swatting Chen Suifeng to the ground with a single paw, its maw now poised directly over his head.
Chen Suifeng could only unleash all of his defensive skills and abilities, but even he didn’t know if he could withstand the blow.
Just then, Su Ze arrived. He leaped down from the sky, descending upon the Two-headed White Tiger’s back.
The Two-headed White Tiger sensed the threat from above. It whipped one head around, tilted it back, and fired a beam of black energy at Su Ze.
The armament in Su Ze’s hand transformed into a large shield, blocking the black energy beam. Though the blast tore a large hole through the shield, Su Ze was completely unharmed.
He used the momentum to land squarely on the Two-headed White Tiger’s back. He wrapped his arms around both of its heads, one on the left and one on the right, looking as if he intended to wring them clean off.
But after a brief attempt, he gave up. ’This Rank 6 beast is too damn tough!’
’Perhaps if I used my "Expansion" skill, the added size and strength would be enough to twist its heads off, but at my normal size, it’s impossible.’
Chen Suifeng was overjoyed to see Su Ze come to his aid. A moment ago, he had been ready to bite the dust.
He immediately coordinated with Su Ze, using his Beast Tail Whip to securely bind one of the Two-headed White Tiger’s heads while Su Ze held the other and began to pummel it relentlessly.
ROAR!
The Two-headed White Tiger let out a pained shriek, its head a bloody mess.
Su Ze gouged out one of its eyeballs, preparing to deliver a Needle Strike into its brain.
But just then, he suddenly felt his hair stand on end. He sensed danger!
"Watch out!" he roared to warn Chen Suifeng. He leaped off the tiger’s back, pulling Chen Suifeng with him to dodge out of the way.
Just as they dodged, a bloodcurdling roar erupted from behind them!
Although Su Ze didn’t turn around, his Perception Tentacles had already taken in everything that was happening behind him.
A single golden feather, five or six meters long and glinting with a cold light, fell from the sky!
It was sharper than any weapon Su Ze had ever seen. With a single pass, it sliced clean off one of the Two-headed White Tiger’s heads!
The head that fell was the very one Su Ze had been holding and pummeling. It was easy to imagine that if Su Ze hadn’t dodged, he would have been decapitated right along with it.
In fact, given the angle of the golden feather’s descent, not only would Su Ze have been decapitated, but Chen Suifeng, who was standing in front of the Two-headed White Tiger, would have been sliced in half as well.
Having lost one of its heads, the Two-headed White Tiger’s remaining head glanced toward the sky. It didn’t dare make a sound as it scrambled backward on all fours, retreating rapidly.
Neither Su Ze nor Chen Suifeng pursued the Two-headed White Tiger. Both of them stared up at the sky, their expressions grim.
Su Ze’s Eye of Truth had been active the entire time, but his Perception Tentacles had failed to detect the enemy in the sky.
This meant one of two things: either the enemy had an ability that could block his Perception Tentacles, or it was simply beyond their range, somewhere in the vast expanse of the sky above!
Finally, Su Ze’s expression shifted. He had sensed the enemy’s location!
It was a Golden Falcon, a full seventy to eighty meters long. Its smallest feathers were at least three to four meters in length!
Its gaze was sharp and its form majestic, like a proud king of the sky.
The Golden Falcon was descending, diving straight for its target—Su Ze.
SWOOSH!
It spread its golden wings and with a slight beat, countless feathers shot out like blades, forming an impenetrable rain of knives that fell toward Su Ze!
Their speed was so great that it even surpassed the flight speed of a Legendary-rank powerhouse.
Su Ze had only just caught sight of the Golden Falcon when the dense shower of golden feathers was already less than a thousand meters from his head!
