Long before Chi Songzi and Wu Luo arrived at the Hundred Lands Mountain Range.
Wu Xian had actually already sent Xiao Yue here specially to invite Li Jingshu to participate in this grand "Witch King Succession Ceremony."
Unfortunately, Li Jingshu almost immediately refused Xiao Yue’s invitation without hesitation.
In a sense, Li Jingshu was the first candidate of the Hundred Lands Mountain Range, and only then did Ying Long have a chance.
In fact, Chi Songzi originally thought that inviting Ying Long was a surefire thing.
But he realized he might have underestimated Ying Long’s status and importance in the Hundred Lands Mountain Range.
First, there was Wu Zhen’s clearly opposing stance, mocking that Great Xia must have no one left, to the point of even considering Ying Long as a candidate for the Witch King.
Soon after, Chi Songzi also discovered that the Xuansu Clan was avoiding him.
As a former deity of Great Xia and a neutral figure standing between humans and Gods, the evasiveness of the Xuansu Clan was, to some extent, indicative of her attitude.
Then came the great battle between Wu Luo and Er Tu.
In the present Hundred Lands Mountain Range, such high-intensity combat of the Celestial God Level has not occurred for a long time.
It was also then that Chi Songzi and Wu Luo learned that Ying Long, whom they had been seeking, was in the "Tiangong One" right above their heads.
Ying Long had been observing their every move and was fully aware of their purpose.
It’s unclear whether it was out of consideration for the Xuansu Clan’s face, or simply disdain, but Ying Long refrained from responding to them from beginning to end.
If it weren’t for the uproar caused by Wu Luo and Er Tu, Ying Long wouldn’t even bother to show up.
So when Nvwa mentioned that there were other candidates in the Hundred Lands Mountain Range, even Wu Luo displayed a look of disbelief.
"Don’t look at me like that; I’m telling the truth."
With a gentle smile, Nvwa spoke without regard for their astonishment.
"Judging by your current candidates, you don’t seem to mind having a non-human race become the Witch King, do you?"
"Since that’s the case, why should your gaze be confined to us?"
"In today’s Hundred Lands Mountain Range, there is an existence whose philosophy, ability, and wisdom all meet your requirements."
Upon hearing this, Chi Songzi immediately understood.
"A God? Does the Hundred Lands Mountain Range have a God that meets our requirements?"
With a smile and a gentle nod, Nvwa spoke slowly in an unhurried tone.
"To speak truthfully, this being can’t actually be considered a God of the Hundred Lands Mountain Range; they might have some ties to your Great Xia as well."
"They originate from the Thunder Marsh of Kunlun, a Celestial God born after Wu Yi Shoots the Sky."
"This Thunder God is kind-hearted by nature, yet not weak in character..."
"From Kunlun to this Hundred Lands Mountain Range, they have witnessed the suffering of all beings without any bias."
"The most crucial aspect is, they do not fully endorse the Prophet’s philosophy, believing that the idea of ’equality among all beings’ is a form of disguised discrimination."
"Strong is strong, weak is weak, that is the unchanging truth of the world."
"Only by supporting the weak with the strong and highlighting the strong with the weak can we possibly achieve the grand era where everyone is as a dragon, as mentioned by the Tao Ancestor."
After silently listening to Nvwa’s full account,
Chi Songzi and Wu Luo exchanged a glance, both seeing the hesitation in each other’s eyes.
Ying Long was understandable, as his mother was at least a deity of Great Xia, maintaining a neutral stance.
Making him a candidate for the tenth Witch King might cause controversy, but it would also have considerable support.
At the very least, the Gods of Great Xia would welcome and even secretly urge their followers to support the Great Witches’ decision.
But truly promoting an entirely unknown God would face unimaginable resistance and pressure.
Even if that entity were merely one of many candidates for the Witch King, it would undoubtedly disrupt the existing views and framework of Great Xia.
"What is their name?"
After a moment’s silence, a hint of resolve flashed across Chi Songzi’s vision.
Hearing such a question from the other, Wu Luo widened his eyes in horror.
"Are you crazy!?"
"Even if that God is truly suitable, they would never be allowed to become a candidate!"
"There’s no precedent for this; neither the Great Witches nor the Gods would ever acknowledge them!"
Confronted with Wu Luo’s nearly hysterical roar, the resolved Chi Songzi only smiled wryly.
"Precedents are not there from the beginning."
"Since the Divine Witch could break tradition to allow Ying Long to run, why can’t I break a precedent once?"
Before Wu Luo could argue, Chi Songzi continued,
"The tradition has already been broken; what difference does breaking it completely make?"
"The Tao Ancestor reset the cosmos with the Innate Eight Trigrams, restoring order to the world."
"But for Great Xia, whether Great Witches or Gods, it’s the weakest moment in history..."
"If we cannot seize this opportunity to break the old ways, future generations won’t have such a good chance."
Looking firmly at Wu Luo, Chi Songzi suddenly chuckled.
"Since leaving Great Xia, I’ve been pondering a question."
"The rule that Gods shouldn’t intervene in the authority of the Witch King was set by the second Witch King."
"But from another perspective, is it truly better for the Great Witches to always wield this authority?"
"In the era of the first and second Witch Kings, the Great Witches were indeed part of humanity, allies against the Gods."
"However, over thousands of years of development and evolution, the Great Witches have become a special class above humans."
"While traveling beyond All Xia, the humans not accepted by Great Xia even referred to the Great Witches as ’Witch Gods’."
Here, Chi Songzi paused slightly and asked in a calm yet resigned tone,
"Do you know what this means?"
"It means the Great Witches have long become, like the Gods, the lofty ’Gods’ in the eyes of ordinary people."
"Perhaps the Divine Witch saw this, which is why he decided to break past traditions, so the Great Witches don’t always hold this authority."
"But the problem arises here. He wants to break the shackles, yet fears toppling Great Xia entirely."
"I can understand his feelings, but I don’t agree with his methods."
Chi Songzi had never felt his thoughts so clear, his goals so evident.
"As long as that God has the magnanimity, why does it matter if he has nothing to do with Great Xia?"
"Conversely, if this God indeed becomes the Witch King..."
"Wouldn’t it show that Gods are no longer the Gods they once were? That they are merely a different kind of ’person’?"
"At the very least, those Ancestor Gods will once again recognize themselves as ’people,’ rather than lofty Gods."
"That should be the ’equality of all beings’ spoken of by the Tao Ancestor!"
When Chi Songzi once again gazed at Nvwa, no one could sway his determination and will.
In truth, Chi Songzi, well aware of the difficulties therein, had even prepared himself for sacrifice in advance.
——Perhaps I don’t have the Divine Witch’s foresight, but I’m also no longer the shaman I once was.
——If the transformation of Great Xia is destined to require sacrifices, then I’m willing to be the first to step forward.
"Please tell me that God’s name and location."
Seeing this, Wu Luo, after hesitating, could only mutter a low curse of ’lunatic.’
"He is called Fu Kui, and now he should be at the border between the Hundred Lands Mountain Range and the South Sea."
