Chapter 15: The Genius of Reverse Cero

Current EP: 4,400 / 1,000,000

Alright.

New day… or night… or whatever it was in Hueco Mundo.

I stood tall — six stories of hollow, bony badassery with a rapidly healing jaw and a single, glorious brain cell firing at maximum capacity.

Today's mission:

Earn more EP doing something so stupid it would make the System question its own existence.

Idea:

If Cero usually goes out, what happens if I try to fire it inward?

Yes. A Reverse Cero.

Now, before you say anything — yes, this is an objectively terrible idea.

Yes, there's a 99.9% chance it would explode in my face.

And yes, that's exactly why I was going to do it.

I gathered the red energy into my hand again.

It crackled, hissed, and hummed like an angry beehive made of doom.

Nearby Hollows scattered.

Again.

I pointed the charged Cero directly at my chest.

"GRROOOOOOH."

(Translation: "This is gonna be so dumb.")

And then — I fired.

BOOOM.

The blast hit me square in the chest.

The result?

I was sent flying backward like a comet made of poor decisions, smashing through two sand dunes, a small Hollow's nest (sorry about that), and landing halfway submerged in a canyon wall.

I groaned.

Or gurgled.

It was hard to tell at that point.

"Grhooohhh…"

(Translation: "Totally worth it.")

As I peeled myself out of the rock, I saw a couple of other Hollows peeking over the ridge, eyes wide.

One of them actually clapped.

I kid you not.

A scrawny, crow-faced Hollow gave me a slow clap before immediately running away when I made eye contact.

Legendary.

Alright, next idea.

Time to see if I could Cero a sandstorm.

I pointed my hand at a massive cloud of sand whipping in the distance and fired.

PEW.

The Cero exploded in the sand cloud.

Absolutely nothing happened.

But then a tumbleweed made of bones and debris slowly rolled toward me.

I watched it.

It watched me.

I nodded.

It kept rolling.

Nice.

I was halfway through plotting how to wrestle the tumbleweed when another Hollow, a lizard-like one with razor-sharp teeth and a bad attitude, leapt at me.

This time, I was prepared.

I stepped to the side and let it faceplant into a rock.

I wasn't even trying anymore.

And that was the beauty of it.

And that's how a genius Gillian like me spends his days in Hueco Mundo — breaking the rules of Hollow physics, causing minor natural disasters, and earning EP through sheer idiocy.

I grinned under my mask.

Tomorrow, I was going to see if I could surf on a Cero.

Why?

Because I could.
