Seth stared at the simmering system screen for a few seconds.
"Hmm... Jack Of All Trades." He muttered, his eyes turning to one of the towering stone sculptures bearing what seemed to be a vague silhouette of a clown.
His gaze traced downwards to the pedestal platform sitting at the feet of the massive construct.
On it, he saw a card flashing with an inviting gold hue. Seth didn’t need anyone to tell him that this was definitely his ticket to whatever trial he was going to be facing.
He scanned the other towering sculptures, but they remained bare of anything similar. That probably had something to do with the fact that this was a trial zone of the Joker?
Seth wasn’t sure... but regardless of what was what, it was clear that if he wanted to leave, he’d have to clear the class quest.
But before that...
He summoned the Oracle crystal, causing a warm emerald glow to bleed into the cave.
"Do you have any information on the class Jack Of All Trades..." Seth asked right away.
No matter what, he had to know what he would be fighting for.
[Subject Information Is Beyond the Current Tier Privilege.]
Seth blinked, stunned. Information on an Awakened grade class was locked behind a higher tier wall?
Seth had a rudimentary understanding of how the Oracle worked, and according to his logic, everything within the Awakened grade or the first zone of the origin realm was supposed to be accessible.
’Or could it be that the information of the class is tied to something higher, something I’m not qualified to know yet?’ Seth’s gaze narrowed as he thought.
He glanced at the levitating emerald crystal and asked another question. "Do you have any information on the House of Cards?"
Now this was a question threading a line Seth had never crossed before — asking about a faction.
[Subject Information Is Beyond the Current Tier Privilege!]
Seth’s expression went serious...
To think the Oracle crystal had information on factions. And to think he couldn’t access that information either.
He turned to stare at the flashing card, this time his gaze carrying more weight.
This class... the faction it was associated with...
He squinted, a smile breaking his lips. "Interesting..."
Dismissing the Oracle crystal, he moved before the platform, staring at the flashing card as he reached down.
And the moment his fingers pinched on the edge...
[Candidate Registered!!!]
[Name: Seth Duskreaver!]
[Race: Human (Unknown!)]
[Linking Sequence....]
"Huh?"
Before Seth could even know what was going on, the card flared up into a brilliant light that swallowed his entire figure whole.
By the time it dimmed, the entire cave had settled back into cold silence...
Meanwhile, on Seth’s end, his sight spun, myriad lights flashing in a blitzing swirl. For a minute he felt the absence of wind, absence of atmosphere.
And worse — absence of gravity. A vacuum embraced his body as an eroding chill dug deep into his flesh.
His heart hammered against his chest as his entire frame spun through the spatial tunnel, laws of the third dimension failing.
His teeth clenched tight as he fought off the piercing chill that tried to eat at his vitality, his mind numb and barely coherent as the wrongness of the situation prickled at his senses.
And suddenly it all stopped. Bloody veins cracked his irises as they struggled to pull light from his surroundings, only to fail disastrously.
He collapsed to a knee, violently exhaling heavy breaths like he had just survived a wrestle against death.
The life-draining chill of the vacuum stung against his flesh, as the slow realization that there was air kicked in.
He sucked it in greedily. The first of his senses fully returning to him was smell...
Strange airborne chemical compounds rode the air down into his nasal passages. He frowned.
Not because the smell was bad, not because it was good either, but because it was completely foreign — so much so his brain was at a loss.
He didn’t even know what emotions to attach to such a smell...
The blurring mesh of lights he could perceive gradually grew clear, as his pupils gradually lightened back up.
His ears slowly dimmed down the stinging white noise ringing in his head...
When suddenly his pupils constricted, abruptly catching a pair of eyes examining him — a foreign face too close to his.
Seth leaped backward from fright, only to land his back against a massive boulder, hitting his barely recovered head straight back into a concussion.
The dark humanoid figure straightened, shrugging as they glanced at Seth. "I don’t think I can tell what race he’s from."
Even as his vision swam, Seth still heard the foreign voices clearly, speaking a dialect he was sure he had never heard before.
"Forget it, he’s from the Joker’s house, right? He’s probably not worth much..." Another voice rang, carrying a lazy tone.
Seth grabbed his head as he struggled to get to his feet. He had long forgotten what it was like to get damaged without his World Saint title being there to patch it up.
His recovery was painfully slow...
’Why the fuck was that transportation so rough?’ he wondered, as he slowly collected himself.
He blinked slowly, his eyes once more taking in light. Right away his pupils focused on the immediate strangers nearby.
Aliens... his gaze narrowed, but he quickly began to scan his surroundings.
His eyes widened as he began to realize something wasn’t right.
There was no sky, except the deep encompassing darkness of the void littered with the glinting dots of distant stars.
The earth? More like a silver rocky surface riddled with craters as far as the eyes could see. A cold wave washed over him.
Those two weren’t the only aliens in sight. Around a dozen more figures stood in the distance, each bearing distinct physical traits, all from different races.
A moon? Was he on a freaking moon!!
"Where the fuck am I?!" Seth blurted out in shock.
One of the two closest to him, a masculine figure with pale blue skin, navy-blue patterns simmering underneath his skin like veins, and eyes that lit up with a fierce sanguine hue, stared at him.
The foreign race member looked at him like he had asked the most foolish question possible.
"Well, you’re on the Verdant Moon, moron!"
