The crowd of new bloods grew tense, Seth and co blinking in surprise as even they were caught off guard by this.
They never accounted for the fact that they would have to be allocated into divisions.
But seeing this was war, it was a no‑brainer. There wouldn’t even be a guarantee that they might all end up in the same team.
But fortunately, the mission would be attacking one race at a time, so regardless they’d be together even if they were separated by divisions.
The president began to read out loud...
"The great families and foreign allies have volunteered elite talents for this cause. Two teams from Canada stand out and might even be comparable to you guys, Team Alpha." The president mentioned, glancing Lara’s way.
"Then we got one elite force from Mexico with comparable might. Then from the South Americas we have a few, but according to their abilities they would all be put under you guys.
Our friends from the EU are having a hard time transporting able hands due to a certain corruption zone dividing our borders, so for now we will have to make do with what we have."
The new bloods’ eyes lit up at those words. It seemed they would be having more manpower than expected. Sometimes it was easy to forget the USA wasn’t the only one fighting this war, but the whole human race.
And that the burden of all this wasn’t theirs to handle alone...
"But before that, we had a total of six teams here, and our plan was to draft seven divisions. Here’s the delegation according to the list..."
Everyone swallowed, shifting in their seats, ears perked up, the room going hushed, leaving nothing but the president’s voice reverberating through the space.
"The talents from Mexico will be assigned to Division Seven, which will be headed by their top evolver Lucas Martinez!"
"Same will apply for the Canadian evolvers. They will be delegated to Division Six, headed by the top Canadian evolver Dorian Alistair."
So far so good. There was barely any reaction. No one bothered or felt dissatisfied about the foreigners’ delegation.
"Now for Division Five, which will compose a total of 73 evolvers. Six captains heading the division will be assigned from Team Delta!"
Everyone’s gaze shifted to the mentioned team, Team Delta — a team fully composed of six beautiful young women.
Delta was the last elite team to be named, so far as they were the latest batch of evolvers who had the capabilities of clearing a corruption zone all on their own.
"And heading the entire division will be..."
Everyone turned back to the president in shock as he kept going. It seemed the man had the intention of placing an overall leader over Team Delta...
"Elaine Griffith!"
Now the shock came from the Apex team’s end. Elaine had been assigned as a leader?
Seth’s gaze narrowed, and he could already see how this would all play out.
Meanwhile, the person in question, Elaine, remained stoic, barely giving any reaction. But those from Team Delta’s eyes gleamed with anticipation. They were going to be headed by a member of the Apex team?
What greater honor would there be than that?
"Division Four will consist of 90 evolvers, with six captains heading this division from Team Beta!" The president declared.
Sparking excitement from a group of six at the far end of the table — Team Beta, the second named elite team to clear a corruption zone right after Team Alpha.
"Leading them will be..." breaths held as all eyes turned to the Apex corner.
"Uriel Mormont!" The president declared, moving on without bothering about the silent jubilation commencing among the Betas.
"Division Three will consist of 98 evolvers, and will be headed by seven captains from Team Gamma!"
Continuing without a hitch, "And leading them would be Brandon Borant!"
The members of Team Gamma were all smiles. Actually, no one cared who they were assigned to. Being led by an Apex was the greatest honor in itself.
"Then we will have Division Two, that will consist of 100 evolvers, with ten captains hailing from Team Omega!"
Eyes turned to the team with the most evolvers among the named elite teams present. Just as stated, Omega consisted of ten able‑bodied young men, all men rumored to be young champions hailing from the Under‑20 UFC.
"Leading this team will be Jack Bane!" Eyes gleamed as the Omega team members nodded in satisfaction. Jack definitely fitted their criteria. He would indeed be the best match to lead them.
The president swiped to the last page. Honestly, there was no need to say it, but formality demanded so.
"Division One, which will consist of 140 evolvers, will be headed by seven captains from Team Alpha."
Team Alpha, the strongest evolvers among the new bloods aside from Apex, that is...
"And leading them will be none other than Seth Duskreaver!"
Silence followed. It was to be expected, so not many reactions were displayed. Now they just needed to know who and where they would be attacking and understand their mode of transportation...
So the meeting progressed smoothly, to the goal of the first mission of this war...
The Dragons!
Seth’s gaze lit, as his deduction ended up being correct.
The president started with a brief presentation about their enemies, and Seth had to give it to the man — he did a good job in beastifying the dragons.
So much so, Seth was sure issues of moral clash wouldn’t affect this very first mission at the very least.
The president spoke about the dragons’ anatomy. At least he relayed the little information the government had scrapped together.
He mentioned their habits, their racial traits. Of course, dragons hadn’t lit their racial lamp — they didn’t even have one yet.
But all races did have traits, though in a lesser sense than a registered one. After all, whether humans lit the racial lamp or not, their affinity with the intelligence stat would have still remained present regardless.
Lighting the racial lamp only served to tighten and solidify the bonds with the stat.
"Now that we are clear on their general abilities, we should focus on their locations..." The president swiped through the hologram, drawing a new map on display.
"Dragons are solitary creatures. Aside from occasionally occupying a spot with their mates, they do not even bother to remain with their young after it hatches."
Pointing at marked spots of all volcanoes and turbulent regions, "These are the main locations housing these beasts. We have four currently on the move attacking our friends in the south... so it has been agreed that this is where we begin!" Pausing for a bit, the president swiped the screen once more, pulling images into display.
The new bloods’ eyes gleamed as they stared... weren’t these images portraying mechs?
"This will be our dragon‑slaying gear!" The president announced.
"We currently have six models. Each will be designated to an attack division! These bad boys will have long space‑jumping capabilities, allowing the issue of transportation to be handled."
Eyes glowed in awe as the president explained about the massive construct.
"Of course, there is still an underlying issue. There are only six models, and we have seven divisions..." The president said, suddenly turning to Seth.
"After consulting with the engineering team, we have agreed to come up with an alternative for Division One..."
