Bella Green removed Chloe Johnson’s hand from her shoulder with a blank expression, her voice growing colder.
"Was the initial paternity test forged?"
Chloe’s eyes were filled with complexity, but she still shook her head.
That paternity test was real...
Bella took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
"Who are my parents, and why did the test with... him show such a result?"
The door was opened.
Both were startled, turning their heads to look.
When they saw who it was, they breathed a sigh of relief.
Michael Green stood at the doorway, hesitated for a moment, then walked into the room.
He sat beside Chloe, holding her hand, his voice full of helplessness.
"Tell her, there’s nothing that needs to be hidden. He’s come this far, and even if you cover your ears and pretend to know nothing, will it really be safe?"
His words left Chloe stunned for a while, then she seemed to resolve something in her heart.
"Since you want to know, then I’ll tell you."
Bella’s heart was anxiously pounding.
Just as Chloe was about to speak, the door was again gently pushed open, and a voice with a chuckle sounded slowly.
"What do you want to tell her? I’m quite interested to hear it too."
That gentle, lingering voice fell on the three people’s ears like a devil’s whisper, freezing their blood.
Bella sharply looked toward the door.
The person she expected was standing there.
Rage surged in the girl’s heart, nearly consuming her reason.
It was this man who almost got her and Mason Bennett killed!
Just as Bella was about to erupt, Chloe held her down firmly.
"Second Master, Bella said she wanted to hear stories from her childhood; I was just about to tell her. If Second Master is interested, why not listen together?"
Matthew Lawrence’s smile deepened, his eyes full of tenderness as he wheeled himself into the room.
"Ah, yes, I’m very interested. Bella must have been adorable as a child."
He paused, looking at Bella’s face, his voice even more gentle.
"Just like her mother."
As soon as the word ’mother’ was uttered, the entire room fell silent.
Chloe was stunned, as if she was taken back into some memory, losing focus.
Bella looked at him coldly.
"Is that so? Actually, I’m more curious about who my mother is. Even if she has passed, she must have had relatives, right? Why haven’t you ever mentioned them?"
Matthew lowered his eyes for a moment, then lifted them and smiled, "If you want to see them, I’ll take you to meet them another day."
Bella smiled coldly, "Alright."
Matthew smiled again, as if unaware of anything.
"I heard from the butler that you made a call, seemed quite anxious? How’s your health?"
Bella hadn’t expected him to bring up this matter so proactively.
"Of course I was anxious. I woke up not dead, yet I found myself under house arrest, and you were the only one I could contact. How could I not be anxious?"
Bella’s expression was almost amused, not as emotionally intense as Matthew had imagined.
"Hmm, the estate is covered by signal jammers; you can only reach the butler’s landline."
This response clearly did not satisfy Bella.
"Where’s my phone?"
"Hmm? Your phone went missing? It must have been dropped somewhere," Matthew replied in a very indifferent tone.
Bella chuckled lightly, indifferent to his answer.
"No matter, now that you’re here, you can open the estate gates, can’t you? I want to leave."
