Actually, last night after drinking, Elias Langley held Juliana Jacobs’ hand without really remembering anything.
It was due to the interactions these days and the subconscious pull embedded deep inside him that made him feel Juliana might be the right choice.
However, the sense of responsibility towards Iris Paxton, stemming from "saving grace" and a "promised commitment," still remained.
So when he saw her faint on the ground, Elias Langley quickly let go of Juliana and walked over.
Juliana, who had been leaning against him, nearly lost her balance when he suddenly left.
Fortunately, Jared Langley and Adrian Langley were nearby, and they both supported her back.
The brothers’ arms crossed, and the three froze at the same time.
Seeing Elias Langley anxiously carrying Iris towards the villa’s prepared resting room, Adrian was the first to come to his senses.
He quickly withdrew his hand and, to cover the awkwardness from earlier, quietly advised, "Life’s like this... maybe it’s better to part ways?"
Jared’s gaze flashed slightly, not refuting but rather following up in a calm tone, "Yes, getting so angry all the time isn’t good for your health."
Juliana’s calm gaze swept over the faces filled with different thoughts, took a deep breath, and said, "If you two keep working together like this, even Five Elements Mountain could be turned over,"
Both Jared and Adrian were taken aback, instinctively exchanging a glance, both having a feeling that their emotions had been quickly unveiled and masked again.
Juliana, without looking at them, hurried towards the direction where Elias had left.
Over there, Elias Langley carried Iris Paxton into the villa’s resting room prepared for her.
The staff did not follow him inside.
After entering, Elias found a reclining chair, intending to put her down there.
However, just as he was about to set Iris down, she suddenly pulled out a syringe and jabbed it into his neck.
Feeling the quick inflow of medication causing a swelling pain in his neck, Elias Langley’s body stiffened, and he threw Iris onto the reclining chair.
"You..."
He clutched his neck, his body losing balance.
Iris sat in the chair, suppressing her fear, softly saying, "Elias, it’s time for your injection."
Juliana and the group pushed the door open, seeing Elias Langley on one knee, one hand propped on the ground, the other pressing his temple, looking pained.
"What did you do to him?" Juliana asked sharply.
Iris steadied her nerves, stood up from the reclining chair, feigned relaxingly replied, "Elias remembered he needed his medication today, so he just administered it himself."
"Where did he get the syringe?" Juliana sensed things were off.
Iris tidied the loose hair by her ear and raised her chin, saying, "He trusts me a lot, whether it’s the medications he takes or injects, it’s all handled by me. What, are you jealous?"
However, before Juliana could reply, Elias Langley, who had looked extremely pained, suddenly lifted his head with a scattered yet terrifying look in his eyes.
He gathered immense will, shakily stood up, and seized Iris’ wrist.
"Elias... ah!"
Before Iris could finish, Elias swung his arm, throwing her to the feet of Jared and Adrian.
Jared and Adrian immediately restrained Iris on either side.
Elias Langley’s breathing was heavy, his body trembling slightly from pain and forced exertion.
Despite his unbearable pain, he ordered, "First... lock her up... wait for me... wait for me..."
His words after "wait for me" were interrupted by an even more intense headache, causing him to hunch again, fingers buried deep in his hair, and he kneeled down.
Juliana had never thought that each time Elias finished an injection, he would endure such torment.
"Elias Langley..."
Her heart tightened, instinctively she stepped forward, reaching out to support him.
"Get out!"
Elias Langley swung his arm abruptly, pushing her away directly.
The uncontrolled force caused Juliana to fall backward.
Fortunately, Jared reacted quickly, darting forward to catch her.
"Everyone out... without my... permission... no one can come in!"
Juliana was not hurt, but shocked, she felt discomfort in her lower abdomen.
She clutched her abdomen, frowning at the man who had just roughly shoved her.
Jared quietly advised, "My uncle has always been measured in his actions. If he’s asking us to leave, he must have his reasons. He’s not well, and staying here will only harm you."
Juliana bit her lip, and after a deep look at the man struggling alone under the torture of medicine, finally nodded.
She freed herself from Jared’s support, stood on her own, and walked out first.
Jared was the last to exit, closing the door behind him.
At this moment, Raine Kane arrived, and searched Iris, finding a syringe.
A grim outcome lay ahead.
Elias Langley might have been injected with double the dosage.
Only a few minutes later, Iris was escorted away.
"Weren’t the medications all replaced?"
Juliana’s heart ached painfully.
Raine lowered his head slightly, "I swapped out all the medications in her kit, but didn’t know how many she brought along. Moreover, she had always kept this 2-in-1 syringe on her. I..."
Raine’s face was heavy, leaving his sentence unfinished.
Juliana looked towards the tightly shut resting room door, feeling helpless and anxious, her heart a tangled mess.
Unable to tell if his body could withstand the impact of the large dosage medication.
Too afraid to imagine if his memory would be completely erased because of it.
Or... would he become someone who lost clarity of mind.
Everyone waited outside for half an hour, no sound came from the resting room.
Juliana took charge, ordering Raine to kick open the resting room door.
They saw Elias Langley lying on the ground, eyes closed tightly, his face colorless and his breathing so faint it was barely detectable.
When Juliana flipped him over, she realized his body temperature was frighteningly low.
She hurriedly removed her jacket, covering him, and sharply ordered, "Take him to the hospital now!"
At the hospital, outside the emergency room.
The diagnosis confirmed Juliana’s fears.
The medication’s dosage was excessive and ferocious, almost destroying Elias Langley’s body and mind balance.
"Do you mean he might turn into a fool when he wakes?" Juliana asked.
The doctor was silent for two seconds, "Not necessarily, he might also lose hearing, sight, or even face partial paralysis. Any drug overdose can harm the body, the outcome will only be known when he wakes."
Juliana, shaken by the doctor’s words, almost couldn’t stand still, Jared helped her again.
"Don’t worry, the fortune teller said my uncle is destined to survive any troubles."
At that moment, Raine Kane ran over.
"Old Mr. Paxton went home, he wants to see you."
