Chapter 368: You Can Call Me—Daddy

Handling Iris Paxton can alarm Dylan Paxton?

That’s indeed a bit surprising.

Juliana Jacobs paused for two seconds and looked at Zachary York who rushed over from behind.

"I will leave everyone I brought here, you guard this place and make sure he is safe."

Zachary York nodded, "Don’t worry, ma’am."

"My dad just had surgery, I won’t accompany you back," Jared Langley said.

Juliana Jacobs thanked him and left with Raine Kane.

When the two hurried back to Number 17 on Darroway Street, Old Mr. Paxton was sitting in the main hall drinking tea.

Halfway there, to ease her stomach discomfort, Juliana bought a cup of ginger tea.

Upon his entry, the old man did not get up, nor did he even stand.

"Elias’s tea here is quite good, next time I see him, I’ll ask him where he buys it."

Juliana smiled slightly, "Old Mr. Paxton might not be lucky enough to enjoy this tea again."

Old Mr. Paxton raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at her with a trace of coldness in his otherwise calm gaze.

Juliana placed the ginger tea on the table and said calmly, "You are better aware of his health condition than I am."

Not cursing him to die?

Only then did Old Mr. Paxton smile.

"I know you blame me for indulging Iris and Elias being together, but this is their fate, and I can’t interfere. But about what happened today, I think... it was just a moment of confusion on her part, she didn’t intend to harm anyone, so you should know better."

Juliana understood.

Old Mr. Paxton came personally, one to find excuses for the injection incident Iris caused to Elias, and two to pressure her into releasing Iris.

However, she was more surprised that Old Mr. Paxton actually came out to protect Iris, a piece in the game himself.

Could Iris really just be an undesired relative of the Paxton Family?

Juliana pondered for two seconds, wearing a faint smile.

"Old Mr. Paxton dedicated his life to his career, never married – some things naturally can’t be fully appreciated. Couples don’t tolerate third parties, no matter the intention, intruding on someone else’s marriage is always malicious in the eyes of the spouse, so this ’better judgment’, if not understood, Old Mr. Paxton can ask your brother for advice."

Dylan Paxton sensed the sharpness in her words and chuckled slightly.

"I don’t need to remind you; you should know that what I want, I always get."

Juliana took a sip of ginger tea and said meaningfully, "Have you really never failed?"

Of course, failed.

What Dylan Paxton still cannot let go of is what’s in Sebastian Sinclair’s hands.

To this day, he still wants it.

Dylan Paxton squinted his cloudy eyes, examining the young yet sharp woman before him.

He had long heard that Juliana was stubborn. Evan Grant’s skills, for example, still ran into walls with her, and he did not expect her to be the same towards himself.

Such a person, if not used, will inevitably become a big problem.

"Constantly causing me trouble, have you forgotten your own weight? Some roads look flat, but once you’re on them, you realize beneath your feet is thin ice, and falling through can be fatal."

Juliana heard his threat, and since the face was torn, there was no need to hesitate further.

"The times have changed, outcomes won’t stay the same. Haven’t you experienced moments when you’re powerless too?"

Dylan Paxton’s face bore an expression of complete coldness; silent tension filled the air.

At this moment, his secretary jogged in from outside and whispered something in his ear.

Upon hearing this, Dylan Paxton’s gloomy face suddenly relaxed, replaced by a subtle, meaningful smile.

He stood up, his gaze sweeping over Juliana.

"It’s good for young people to be energetic, but one must learn to assess the situation. Leave Iris to you for guidance, have Elias bring her to my place for tea sometime."

After saying this, without waiting for Juliana’s response, he leaned on his cane and walked away.

Why did he decide not to take Iris away?

Juliana was puzzled when Raine Kane rushed in.

"Juliana, Mr. Langley has woken up, he... is on his way back."

Juliana frowned, "Has he become foolish?"

Raine Kane lowered her head, "It might be more serious."

Juliana closed her eyes, paused for two seconds, then instructed, "Bring Iris over."

In the bitter cold, Iris was stripped of her down jacket, brought in from outside, shivering from the cold.

"Juliana, what do you mean? Are you planning to do something to me while Elias is in a coma? I warn you, if he wakes up and can’t find me, you’ll pay the price."

Juliana listened expressionlessly as she finished her threats, and only then did she put down the ginger tea.

"Thanks for the reminder, so the one who’s actually tied up right now... is me."

Iris Paxton was stung by her understated sarcasm, her face turning ashen.

Juliana spoke lightly: "Your grand-uncle came by and said it’s not good for young people to be too hot-blooded. Looking at you now, his words seem quite reasonable."

She turned her gaze to Raine Kane and instructed, "Take her to the nearby riverbank, let her cool off while the river hasn’t frozen over."

Just as Raine Kane was about to take her away, the door opened.

A couple of bodyguards opened the way, and Elias Langley walked in with Zachary York.

Juliana leaned back in the main seat, quietly watching him.

This time, the feeling he gave was completely different from both before his amnesia and after.

There was no initial confusion and bewilderment, nor the deep restraint of his pre-amnesia, authoritative aura.

At this moment, his gaze was cold and sharp, yet deep within his pupils lurked a playful and undisguised ferocity, like a demonic blade casually toyed with after being unsheathed — elegant and dangerous.

Seeing Elias Langley, Iris Paxton seemed to find her savior.

"Elias, save me!" She cried pitifully, "She misunderstood me, said I want to harm you, and plans to throw me into the river."

Elias Langley stopped in front of her, looking down at her indifferently for two seconds.

Iris Paxton grew even more delicate under his gaze, held by the bodyguards, as if she couldn’t stand steadily.

Elias Langley reached out his fingers, pinching her chin to make her look up at him.

He then asked casually, "Oh? So, do you really intend to harm me?"

Iris Paxton immediately shook her head, "I love you so much, how could I harm you? The medication was prescribed by the doctor based on your condition after you woke up from The Zenthian Sea, it needs to be injected every few days. You trust me, so you leave the medication with me for safekeeping."

While speaking, she tried to lean towards Elias Langley, but Elias Langley, emotionlessly pinching her chin, neither allowed her to retreat nor advance, as if this was the distance he had set in stone.

Iris Paxton had to continue, "This time... I was just too eager, didn’t want to be bullied by Juliana all the time, so I foolishly injected you with a double dose, I only want you to recover quickly. I realize my mistake, Elias, but I never intended to harm you..."

"You love me," Elias Langley said playfully, "Then tell me, what is our relationship now?"

Iris Paxton stopped crying, her cheeks flushed by his close breath and straightforward question.

"You’ve promised to marry me, what do you say our relationship is?"

Upon hearing this, Elias Langley released her, instructing the bodyguards, "Let her go."

But the bodyguards in the manor looked towards Juliana.

Elias Langley’s gaze darkened, "I said, let her go! If anyone has an opinion, keep it to yourself, from now on, I’m in charge here."

Juliana slightly raised her chin, the bodyguards released their grip.

At this moment, Steward Fay stepped forward, nodded, and softly said, "Sir, all matters at home were previously decided by the madam."

Elias Langley glanced at him, "Who are you?"

"I..."

Steward Fay sighed, calling another household servant over.

"Sir doesn’t recognize us anymore, let’s reintroduce ourselves."

He began, "Sir, I am Jonas Fay, your steward, you can call me Old Fay."

Elias Langley tilted his head at him, sneering, "Jonas Fay? Fay? I think it’s ’Swollen’ Fay, always swollen with that face, you really exhaust yourself as a steward."

Steward Fay, "..."

Juliana leaned back in her chair, resting a hand on her forehead, quietly watching his actions, saying nothing.

Next was the middle-aged maid.

"Sir, I handle odd jobs, my name is Qin, you can call me Mrs. Quinn."

Elias Langley chuckled, "Are you diligent? The courtyard is full of weeds, do you live up to your name?"

Mrs. Quinn’s face went pale, lowered her head wordlessly.

Iris Paxton watched Elias Langley oppose everyone in Langley Manor, rejoicing.

Finally, it was Raine Kane’s turn, she stepped forward proudly, "Mr. Langley, I am Juliana’s assistant, Raine Kane. You can just call my name."

Elias Langley assessed her with a gaze, "Your name sounds limp, just like you, thin, neither skilled in martial arts nor literature, are you fit to be an assistant?"

Raine Kane’s lips tightened, her gaze sharp but restrained herself from arguing.

Juliana rubbed her temples, looking at Elias Langley with undisguised impatience.

Elias Langley approached Juliana, looking at her lightly, as if saying, now it’s your turn.

Juliana put down the ginger tea, lazily sat upright, and leisurely said, "I’m the other person on your marriage certificate, you can call me—daddy."
