Chapter 283: Ripples in the Sect

Adams materialized above the sprawling grounds of the Primordial Chaos Sect with the effortless grace of someone who owned every layer of reality. Golden sunlight—crafted by his own whim days earlier—bathed the floating peaks and training halls in a warm, eternal glow. Below, thousands of disciples moved in synchronized flows, their auras flaring with the power he had casually bestowed upon them. The air hummed with vitality, a far cry from the ruined clan he had awakened in not so long ago.

He descended slowly, hands tucked into his pockets, black hair stirring in the artificial breeze. Anderson was already waiting at the central plaza, crimson hair catching the light like fresh blood, ruby eyes sharp and alert. Beside him stood Jack, arms crossed, and a few of the newer J’s recruits. They all straightened instinctively as Adams’ presence washed over them.

"Adams," Anderson greeted, bowing slightly. "The sect has been stable, but... there have been minor anomalies. Spatial distortions near the outer barriers. Nothing we couldn’t handle, but they feel off."

Adams landed lightly, his shoes not even disturbing the pristine stone tiles. "Off, huh? Good eye. We’ve got company from upstairs. Old acquaintances. Magnus and his Omni crew dropped by for a chat."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "The same ones you turned down like they were offering stale bread?"

"Exactly." Adams chuckled, a low, easy sound that carried across the plaza. Several disciples nearby paused their training to listen, awe etched on their faces. "They’re not here to fight. Just monitoring some multiversal mess. Someone’s been playing dress-up with their signatures. Eating at the edges of weaker realities."

Before anyone could respond, a clear, melodic chime echoed directly in Adams’ mind—unlike anything he had heard from the system before.

[Ding! New Multiversal Quest Generated: Trace the Echoes]

[Objective: Identify and neutralize the source of the distorted Omni signatures threatening stability across connected universes. Optional: Integrate insights into the Primordial Chaos Sect’s foundation.]

[Rewards: Omni-Shop Expansion – Custom Reality Forging Tier Unlocked. Additional Infinite Skill Point Allocation. Potential New Subordinates from Alternate Branches.]

[Status: Active]

Adams blinked once. Then twice. A rare, genuine look of mild surprise crossed his face before it melted into amusement.

"Well, I’ll be damned," he muttered aloud, drawing curious glances from Anderson and Jack. "That’s a first. The System actually handing out a proper quest like some game NPC? After all this time of just letting me do whatever the hell I want with infinite everything?" He laughed softly, shaking his head. "Guess even an Omnipotent System can evolve when the multiverse starts knocking. Cute. Real cute."

Anderson tilted his head, concern flickering in his ruby eyes. "Adams? Is something wrong with the System?"

"Nah." Adams waved it off casually, but his golden eyes gleamed with fresh interest. "It’s adapting. Finally recognizing that we’re playing on a bigger board now. Infinite points are one thing, but having the damn thing suggest directions? That’s new entertainment."

He turned toward the sect’s central spire, gesturing for the group to follow. As they walked, the air around them shimmered subtly—Adams reinforcing the barriers with a mere thought. Disciples bowed deeply as they passed, some whispering excitedly about the "Lord’s return."

In a quieter corner of the sect grounds, hidden within a luxurious pavilion adorned with rare spiritual herbs and flowing silk banners, Mabel Lovigary, Inara, and Akira were gathered. The three women looked up as Adams approached, their expressions a mix of relief and playful reproach.

"You’re late," Mabel said first, standing with the poise of her noble upbringing. Her eyes traced his untouched form, as always. "The sect felt... unsettled. Anderson said you vanished into the void again."

Inara, still adjusting to her transformed state from earlier power-ups, crossed her arms with a smirk. "And here you are, looking like you just took a leisurely stroll through creation itself."

Akira leaned against a pillar, her gaze softer but no less intense. "We missed you. Even if you were only gone a short while by our time."

Adams smiled, pulling each of them into a brief, warm embrace that carried subtle infusions of energy—gentle reinforcements to their foundations. "Missed you too. Things escalated. Old friends from beyond the planes showed up. Magnus and company. No fight, thankfully. They’re after the same nuisance I sensed."

He explained briefly—the impersonator wearing distorted Omni auras, the eaten realities, the new quest notification. The women listened intently, asking sharp questions that showed how far they had grown under his guidance.

"So this... impersonator," Inara mused. "It’s not targeting you directly?"

"Not yet," Adams replied, lounging on a conjured throne that appeared beneath him. "But it’s connected. The other Kieran and Arianna are involved too. The Core he carries is acting like a beacon. I’ll let them handle some of the groundwork in the Divine Plane. Keeps things interesting."

Jack, who had followed, snorted. "You’re turning that kid into your errand boy?"

"More like a promising side character," Adams said with a grin. "He’s got potential. Passed my little test. Now he gets to play hero while I oversee the real stage."

As the conversation flowed, Adams subtly expanded the sect’s protections. With a flick of his will, new formations bloomed across the mountains—layers of infinite energy woven into reality itself. Disciples training nearby felt their cultivation speed surge, breakthroughs happening spontaneously for some.

[System Notification: Sect Foundation Reinforced. Disciple Loyalty + Cultivation Efficiency Increased by 300%. Quest Synergy Active.]

Adams chuckled again at the fresh prompt. "See? It’s even getting chatty. This quest thing might grow on me."

Anderson, ever the loyal shadow, spoke up. "What would you have us do, Master?"

"Maintain the sect. Train harder. If any distortions slip through, handle them. Jack, take a team and scout the Beast Continent borders—I want eyes on anything unusual." Adams stood, stretching lazily. "I’ll poke around the multiverse trails myself. Magnus gave me a thread to follow. Should be entertaining."

Later that evening, as stars—real and conjured—twinkled overhead, Adams found a quiet moment atop the highest peak. The weight of eternity pressed lightly on him, that familiar boredom lurking at the edges. But the new quest, the impersonator, the evolving System... it stirred something.

"Lonely, huh?" he whispered to himself, echoing Kieran’s earlier words. A faint smile touched his lips. "Maybe. But with an infinite playground and now quests? Things are looking up."

Far away, in the Divine Plane, Kieran and Arianna felt the subtle pull. The Core pulsed warmly in Kieran’s wrist, almost like a guiding hand on his shoulder.

Adams’ voice echoed in their minds once more, light and teasing. *"Don’t break the plane while I’m out. And Kieran—try using that Core properly. Consider it part of your extended test. Arianna... keep him honest."*

Kieran sighed, looking at Arianna. "He’s enjoying this too much."

She smiled faintly. "He always does. But he’s watching out for us. In his own way."

As the night deepened across both planes, the first true echoes of the impersonator began to stir—a faint distortion near the Forbidden Forest, whispering ancient names and wearing a familiar silver-haired silhouette.

Adams sensed it immediately. His golden eyes sharpened.

"Game on."
