"Thank you, Aunt Petal."
"Congratulations on getting your wish."
Mia Ginger and Koa Jackson each said a word, and Mother Petal smiled so widely she couldn’t close her mouth, lavishing praise on Olivia Williams.
Olivia felt a bit embarrassed. When she went to the kitchen, she blushed and invited Mia, "Have a seat. They say I can’t use the air conditioning, so it’s off. But it’s actually pretty cool inside; after resting a while, you won’t feel hot."
"I’ll go wash my hands." Koa Jackson made his way to the bathroom as he saw Mia sitting down.
Denver Petal packed away the things they brought and then sat on the sofa with them. He hadn’t settled in yet when his phone rang again.
He answered briefly and said with a smile to Mia, "You take a seat and chat with Sister Olivia. I’m going outside to pick up another friend."
"Okay, okay," Mia hurriedly responded.
As he walked out, she asked curiously, "Is Brother Petal having a gathering at home?"
"Not really, just invited you guys and a partner from his joint firm," Olivia said with a smile. "Originally, we wanted to invite everyone out for dinner, but I can’t go out these days, so we invited you over to hang out."
"You can’t go out?" Mia whispered, "Did Aunt Petal forbid it? That’s a bit exaggerated."
"The doctor said to be careful in the first three months, and the elders are worried, so I’ve let it be. I’m delegating my work to others for now; we’ll see about it after the baby is born." Olivia smiled, looking gentle and serene.
Mia looked at her with a bit of envy, her gaze landing on Olivia’s belly, muttering, "You can’t even tell she’s pregnant."
"It’s only fifty days, of course, it’s not visible yet," Olivia couldn’t help but laugh. "It takes at least three to five months to show. When the belly grows larger, walking might be difficult, so this time is actually quite relaxed."
"Do you have any symptoms?" Mia observed her rosy complexion, looking slightly fuller than before, and wondered, "I heard it’s hard when you’re newly pregnant; some can’t even eat because of nausea."
"Everyone’s body is different. I’m fine, hardly any symptoms at all."
"Then it must be a good baby," Mia was overjoyed, and she couldn’t resist reaching over and touching Olivia’s belly through her soft dress, feeling nothing.
Koa Jackson saw her like this when he came out of the bathroom.
Looking curious, he cautiously reached out to touch her belly too, smiling widely.
This girl...
Koa Jackson walked over to her side, holding back a laugh, and said, "You’re getting ahead of yourself, aren’t you being a bit too eager?"
"I’m just curious," Mia turned her head and laughed with a "hehe."
Then she raised her eyes and was stunned.
Daniel Davis and Tori Tung appeared in her sight.
She belatedly realized: Is Daniel Davis Denver’s partner? What a small world.
Tori Tung had nothing to do over the weekend. Her mom stayed for most of the day, and Tori was feeling bored thinking she had work the next day. So after lunch, she bought a ticket and flew back, leaving her alone at home.
Having nothing else to do, she liked to daydream. When Daniel called, she agreed to meet.
Then—
The two ate out, and Daniel took her for a walk afterward.
Along the way, he gave her a head-to-toe makeover.
Her bangs were pinned back with a slim black headband, and her long hair was cut and layered, gathered into a slightly messy bun at the back, revealing her smooth forehead and fair neck. She wore a light beige high-waisted knee-length skirt paired with wedge heels, which made her look elegant and poised.
She had good skin, and with her face fully revealed, her features appeared gentle, her eyes large and naturally curving at the corners, giving her a shy, quiet look. A dimple in her cheek added a hint of childlike innocence, making her look completely different from before.
Mia looked at her and then at Daniel, who had his arm around Tori’s shoulder, feeling a little complicated.
The saying "Clothes make the person" is absolutely correct.
Looking at the transformed Tori, it somehow reminded her of herself when she first entered the Ginger Family and was forced to change.
But—
It was Charlotte Chester who changed her.
It was Daniel Davis who changed Tori.
She encountered such a life change and met Koa Jackson.
Tori was moving away from her original expectations.
Mia was becoming better, but drifting further from Camden River, and all these changes were because of another man.
What is love, really?
Mia felt a sigh, and beside her, Koa Jackson was already shaking hands with Daniel, smiling, "Pleasure to meet you."
Daniel nodded and smiled, "I’ve heard a lot about you."
Koa didn’t know him, but Daniel knew about Koa, and not just Koa. He knew Mia too, due to the previous online buzz, and naturally, he knew the relationship between them.
Moreover—
Because of Mina Lee, he knew in advance about Friday night’s class reunion.
Paying the bill in advance was certainly for Tori’s sake, but also to leave a good impression on Mia, to make it easier to befriend the couple.
Unexpectedly, the opportunity came so quickly.
