Chapter 1009 - 1036: Is There a Reward? (2)

"Alright." Mia Ginger nodded, reclined the seat, and leaned to the side to rest with her eyes closed.

Koa Jackson lowered his eyes to look at her, let out a faint smile, and focused on driving.

——

It was quite congested on Saturday night.

Daniel Davis had originally left the complex later than they did, and after hitting two red lights in a row, he was even slower.

He simply slowed down as well, and asked with a smile, "Did you get enough to eat?"

"Mm." Tong Tong nodded and gave a little smile. "Aunt Petal’s cooking is pretty good, and she’s really nice. It feels like Sister Olivia must be very happy."

As she spoke, the corners of her lips lifted, and the dimple on one cheek seemed even deeper. With those utterly sincere eyes, she looked completely content and satisfied.

Daniel Davis gave her a steady look and said helplessly, "You barely ate anything."

"I ate too much at noon," Tong Tong explained.

Daniel Davis looked at her and smiled, then didn’t say anything more.

Tong Tong let out a breath, leaned back in the seat, and turned sideways to look at the night scenery outside the window.

She was a bit tired, and a little lost.

After her mom flew back at noon, she had gone out with Daniel Davis. The schedule was packed, like a spinning top—busy and running around the whole day, barely managing to relax.

She said she was relaxing, but in fact she hadn’t really relaxed at all.

The headband on her head was quite tight, pressing down on her hair so much that the scalp under both ends of the band felt sore. On top of that, her hair was twisted up into a bun; she couldn’t rest her head on the seat, and could only lean sideways to rest.

The dress as well—tight across her chest and waist. Sitting up straight, she felt she could hardly breathe.

All in all, she was pretty exhausted.

She understood the idea that women dress up for those they like, but she hadn’t expected that being in a relationship would be this tiring.

The nights in Cloud Capital were very bustling, far more than in Riverside. As she watched, though, she only felt a deep longing for the night scenery in Riverside, when the car drove along the riverfront road and the night breeze blowing from the river was always cool, able to soothe a restless heart.

Cloud Capital’s nights had no such breeze. In Cloud Capital in August, even if there was wind at night, it was stiflingly hot, making it hard to feel comfortable.

Camden River should be in Riverside right now.

How lucky—he could feel the night wind of their hometown.

Tong Tong let her thoughts wander all the way.

Nine o’clock.

The two of them arrived at Cloudy Capital. Daniel Davis drove straight in and dropped her off at her front door.

As soon as the car came to a stop, Tong Tong pushed the door open and got out.

When she turned her head, Daniel Davis had turned off the engine and gotten out too. One hand resting on the car door, he looked at her with a smile. "It’s my first time here, and it’s still early. Aren’t you going to invite me in for a cup of tea?"

He hadn’t gone inside at all when he came to pick her up in the morning.

Tong Tong had no real reason to refuse, so she just smiled and said, "Okay, then come in and rest for a bit."

"Sure." Daniel Davis closed the car door and slipped an arm around her as they went inside.

"Miss is back." As soon as the two of them entered the living room, the aunt who looked after her came over to greet her. "Have you had dinner? Do you want me to make some supper for you and... this gentleman?"

"No need, Aunt Alora, go get some rest. Brother Davis is just sitting for a bit before he leaves."

As Tong Tong spoke, she changed her shoes and invited Daniel Davis into the main hall. As soon as he sat down, she hurried to the cabinet to look for tea leaves.

The housekeeper aunt had never seen Daniel Davis before, and was afraid of being a third wheel and affecting the two of them. Since Tong Tong told her to go rest, after hesitating a moment she went down first, leaving the space to the two of them.

Tong Tong didn’t drink tea herself. After searching the cabinet for a long time, she went to look on the Treasure Pavilion shelf.
