Chapter 1018 - 1045: First Day on the Job

Mia Ginger pulled out the chair and sat down.

The spot Reagon Chapman had arranged for her seemed to have been vacant for a few days; there was dust on the desk.

Mia Ginger wiped it briefly with a damp cloth and opened her computer. Without dawdling, she directly started browsing websites.

Within just five minutes, people around suddenly picked up paper and pens and got up. As Hugo Potter passed by her, he reminded, "Meeting now."

"Okay." Mia Ginger pursed her lips and followed the crowd to the meeting room.

Reagon Chapman walked in front, and once inside, she casually found a seat. Seeing that almost everyone was present, she said directly, "Let’s talk about today’s schedule. Seth Chapman, Joy Harris, Gina Sutton, you three continue to scout the city for news, and the rest will go with me to investigate internet cafés."

"..." Mia Ginger was completely baffled.

"In four directions, we’ll split into four groups and cover four districts; two people for each district. Any questions?"

"No." Everyone in the meeting room responded in unison.

Reagon Chapman nodded, "Don’t forget your recorders, and use your phones for photos. Try to have evidence for each district: environment safety, underage presence, these two are the focus. As for the rest, well, refer to that Twitter post from this morning. You can also pay attention to the comments on Twitter. Feel free to express thoughts, come back by three in the afternoon, and publish by five. Mind the time."

"Okay." Everyone replied again in unison.

Reagon Chapman stood up and said, "That’s it, oh, and Director Lee assigned an intern to our team. Hugo, you guide her."

"Got it."

Hugo Potter responded, and everyone’s eyes fell on Mia Ginger, all with a bit of peculiarity.

Reagon Chapman didn’t bother to introduce her at all, so Mia Ginger had to stand up and smiled, "Hello everyone, I’m Mia Ginger. I’m glad to have the chance to work with you, please guide me."

"Hello, hello."

"Pretty lady."

"It’s rare to have a girl join our team."

"..."

Besides Mia Ginger and Reagon Chapman, there were over ten people in the meeting room, and only two other women. Probably due to often running for news, their skin was a healthy tan, dressed in T-shirts and cropped pants, very casual.

In comparison, Mia Ginger’s dressing was really too eye-catching.

Like a single white flower suddenly growing among weeds, frail and dainty.

But—

She was told it’s just an interview.

She hadn’t expected to dive into covert investigation on the first day.

Growing up in an urban village, she naturally knew her appearance made her stand out like a sore thumb.

Oh well.

Mia Ginger sighed, while others had already left in groups.

Hugo Potter and she were at the back, he sighed and said, "Annihilator is just like that, don’t take it personally."

Mia Ginger: "..."

After a moment, she came to her senses, "You mean Sister Chapman?"

"Ahem." Hugo Potter chuckled softly, "We call her Annihilator in private, she’s extraordinarily merciless, hasn’t shown a smile for days, scolding is frequent, you’ll get used to it."

"I’m okay." Mia Ginger smiled.

She just had a vague feeling that Reagon Chapman didn’t like her.

As for the reason...

Could it be because of Dallas Taylor?

Whenever Mia Ginger thought about it, she felt headache; she decided not to think, so she hurried to pack her stuff to go out with Hugo Potter for news.

In fact—

Half the work area was already empty.

Sunshining Network’s traffic is high, unlike other small websites, many news pieces are firsthand information, not just editors sitting around browsing and reposting from other sites.
