Entering university, all this unrequited love brought her was bitterness.
Three whole years, that was enough.
She indeed wanted to let go.
Mia Ginger’s thoughts were chaotic, and it wasn’t until the latter half of the night that she fell asleep.
Little did she know, her casual words had unintentionally touched Windsor Myres, sparing herself from an unforeseen calamity.
——
The next day, in the morning.
At the Jackson Residence.
All three had to go to work, so naturally they got up early.
After breakfast at seven, around seven thirty, Koa Jackson, Mia Ginger, and Mia together left the house.
Mia and Koa were headed in different directions, but Mia was going the same way as Koa.
She had a driver’s license, but didn’t have much experience driving, and without anyone accompanying her, she didn’t dare drive alone. She usually took taxis to work.
The route to the Fourth Hospital went past the television station.
Since it was on the way, Koa simply gave her a lift.
Mia did not sit in the passenger seat, instead, she quietly sat in the backseat. Koa was the sort of person who spoke very little, so the two of them barely talked the entire way. At eight twenty, Koa parked the car by the roadside near the television station.
"Thank you, Dr. Jackson."
"You’re welcome."
With a brief farewell, Mia got out of the car.
Koa quickly drove away.
The sunshine was already splendid, and Mia took a deep breath, stepping towards the inside of the television station.
She hadn’t walked far when she met Camden River’s gaze.
Her expression froze momentarily.
This wasn’t the first time she’d seen Camden River in a suit. In the past, during school events, Camden River had worn suits—neat and slim, casually standing there, always a sight to behold.
But——
Never once had she seen Camden River like this.
He wore a pure black, lightweight casual suit, standing a few steps away with a slightly puzzled look, appearing truly like a painting in the morning light.
The summer in Cloud Capital was hot, with a slight breeze early in the morning, and the temperature was a bit lower.
Yet Mia felt stiflingly hot, nearly suffocating.
Her heartbeat stopped because clearly, she saw the tall, graceful young man a few steps away walking towards her, stopping right in front of her.
He seemed to hesitate for a moment, then smiled lightly and asked, "Just now, um, the person who brought you here looked like Dr. Jackson?"
How could he not be puzzled?
He knew Koa Jackson, and seeing the two together so early in the morning, of course it was strange.
Despite knowing such a question was rather impolite, he couldn’t help but ask.
Mia didn’t speak.
With an absent-minded expression, she gazed at him, unable to snap out of it.
Only then did Camden River look at her closely, slightly overwhelmed.
He had interacted with Mia before, but upon closer reflection, they had never spoken this close, or not often.
He never noticed her eyes, and naturally, he was caught off guard by their deep emotion.
In his memory, Mia always kept a dense set of bangs that easily obscured her eyes.
Because Daniel Davis had her hair trimmed, her bangs had turned into side-swept bangs, shifted to the side of her forehead, revealing those originally clear and bright eyes.
As Camden River gazed, he suddenly thought of an animal.
A fawn.
He pressed his thin lips together, diverted his gaze, even he felt awkward.
Finally, Mia snapped back to reality, looked down and said: "Uh, I stayed at Mia Ginger’s place last night, Dr. Jackson was passing by here on his way to work, so he gave me a lift."
"Stayed at her place?" Camden River repeated, thoughtfully chuckling, "I see."
