Chapter 1027 - 1054: I’m Considering It (4)

"Hmm." Tong Tong nodded, her voice soft.

Camden River breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Come in then."

Tong Tong realized belatedly, "Are you here for an interview today?"

"Yeah." Camden nodded, "It was supposed to be yesterday, but something came up, so I rescheduled with the station for today."

"Oh, good luck with your interview."

"Thanks." Camden smiled faintly, giving her a glance.

It felt like a cage.

Tong Tong took a deep breath and lowered her head.

She felt that even breathing was incredibly difficult.

She had been chasing after him for seven years, and now they were even interviewing at the same company. It seemed like her wish had come true, but only she knew that all of this had already lost its meaning.

Tong Tong’s mind was lost in thought and somehow she found herself backstage.

She was an intern director. It sounded good, but to put it bluntly, it was just a temporary gofer position.

After being bossed around for half a day, she finally broke down.

It wasn’t that the job was too stressful for her.

It was still because of Camden River.

The thought of the two of them working in the same place was unbearable.

This feeling of discomfort kept fermenting, and she couldn’t stand it anymore. She called her dad during her lunch break and then lied to her mentor, quickly completing the procedures and leaving.

This one-sided relationship she had started was not easy to end.

She needed to escape.

She retreated quickly along the path she had painstakingly taken, in a manner even she found disgraceful.

——

This was just another ordinary afternoon.

Tong Tong ended her few days of internship and returned to school to prepare.

Camden River stayed at the Channel One news station as he wished, becoming an intern reporter, embarking on the career path he had planned.

Rosy Harris found a place to live and prepared to settle down in Cloud Capital.

Windsor Myres suffered from insomnia all night and just got up at noon.

Mia Ginger was rushing around under the scorching sun.

Koa Jackson received a call while preparing for an afternoon consultation.

He glanced at it amidst his busyness and saw it was Caiden Ward. In a calm voice, he greeted, "Hello?"

Caiden chuckled, his voice as warm as a spring breeze but with a hint of nonchalance, "Busy?"

"What’s up?" Koa Jackson asked him.

"Did you get the invitation?"

Koa Jackson glanced at the invitation tucked among a stack of documents on his desk, still speaking in a calm voice, "I might not have time tonight."

"The auction dinner starts at seven-thirty; you should be off work by then."

"I might have to work overtime tonight. If I have time, I’ll go."

"Remember to bring Mia," Caiden chuckled, "Maeve can’t wait to see her since she heard she’s back. There’ll be a lot of people tonight, it’ll definitely be chaotic, and you can keep her company."

Koa Jackson was a bit speechless, "That girl is nine years old."

Caiden paused for a moment, then chuckled, "She’s still a kid."

"How long do you plan to take care of her?" Koa Jackson thought about Caiden Ward’s usual demeanor, his refined eyebrows inadvertently furrowed, and earnestly said, "I think Auntie’s suggestion is good. You’re not young anymore; it’s time to settle down and start a family."

"I’m considering it." Caiden Ward said.

Koa Jackson breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good to hear. See you tonight."

"Alright." After Caiden finished speaking, he hung up the phone, feeling a bit melancholic.

He’s twenty-eight now, and he feels that he’s not that old.
