Chapter 1050 - 1077: Decent Upbringing (3)

After all—

Twitter users only roughly knew where their next stop was, without any contact information.

Mia Ginger and Hugo Potter split up to search at the tourist spot, and it wasn’t until 1 PM in the afternoon that they came across the two people in the visitor rest area. After half an hour of negotiating, the old man agreed to the interview.

After the interview, it was already 7 PM.

By then, it was late, and the news didn’t need to be published the same day.

Hugo offered dinner, and the two of them grabbed a meal at a rice noodle restaurant outside, then hurried back. By the time Mia finally got home, it was already past 10:30 PM.

Koa Jackson was working overtime at the hospital and didn’t come back that night.

The next morning, Mia woke up a bit late and arrived at the office just after 9 AM.

Unexpectedly, Reagon Chapman didn’t call on her again.

But—

She called Hugo Potter away.

All the follow-up work from yesterday’s interview was left to Mia alone.

After finishing the article and making the graphics, Mia exchanged messages with Hugo on WeChat before handing it over to the editor. The byline remained, Reporter Hugo Potter, Intern Reporter Mia Ginger.

Currently, the scrutiny for reporter certifications is strict, with only a few spots available each year. Interns can only apply for credentials after turning full-time. Before that, they can’t conduct interviews alone, and with little experience, things can easily go wrong.

Mia understood the larger picture and naturally harbored no complaints, adjusting her mindset positively.

The editor reviewed her article again and laughed, "Not a single mistake, pretty good, I’ll feature it on the homepage."

"Thanks." Mia smiled slightly.

The editor, also a young girl, seemed quite gentle. She had noticed over the past few days that Mia was constantly being troubled by Reagon Chapman and couldn’t help but feel a bit sympathetic. After posting the news, she reminded Mia, "That girl in the striped dress over there is in charge of Twitter. Send her the article and have her promote it. These photos are nice."

Mia looked up; the girl seemed to hear their conversation and smiled, "Just upload them to me via QQ."

"Okay." Mia nodded and went to send her the images.

All departments of the website operate under a last-place elimination system. Those with the poorest assessment scores are eliminated, making the competition fierce.

Part of the assessment for reporters and editors is the click rate of their articles. The higher the click rate, and the more sensational the news is, the more it can bring traffic and reputation to the website. Thus, exclusive headlines have become increasingly important.

While browsing the web, Mia surprisingly discovered that her news piece stayed as the headline for a while.

She considered herself quite lucky.

According to what the editor told her on QQ, ever since Reagon Chapman parachuted in, Sunshining Network’s social headlines had been negative every day—illegal internet cafés, tainted cold noodles, massage parlor girls. It hadn’t been long before tourists on forums started complaining that Sunshining Network was constantly negative, affecting their mood.

Therefore, although the click rate increased, the site’s reputation was subtly affected.

The human mindset is the most complicated thing. While the audience cares about issues closely related to their lives and health, sometimes they prefer to play deaf and dumb. Knowing less makes life less tiring.

With problems in milk and eggs, hospitals and schools, public transport systems, and even tomatoes and cucumbers, there are so many issues domestically. Over time, how can the public not grow resentful?

Ultimately, people need to replenish themselves with some positive energy; otherwise, they’ll eventually collapse.

Looking at the conversation window, Mia felt that once again, her thoughts had slightly changed. However, what exactly this change was, she found hard to articulate for the moment.
