Even though they’re all professors, are all high-level intellectuals this serious?
"Camden, keep Little Windsor company for now, she’s been waiting for you to come back. We haven’t had lunch yet; I’ll go prepare it now," Chloe said with a smile as Windsor Myres was still lost in thought.
Before she could say anything, standing Rosy Harris smiled and offered, "Auntie, let me help you."
"You’re also a guest, just sit and relax," Chloe smiled and declined, then looked up at Troy River, "There are watermelons and grapes in the kitchen, why don’t you wash some for the kids and bring them out."
"I’ll go do it," Cousin River said as she got up.
Chloe didn’t refuse, and smiled at Windsor Myres, "Lunch today is a bit late, I hope you don’t mind, have some fruit first."
"It’s fine," Windsor Myres reluctantly replied, "Auntie, you’re too kind."
Not just kind, but distant.
Yet, she isn’t the kind of person who is smooth and tactful.
She could never show the warmth like Rosy, even if she were forced.
Camden River naturally noticed her awkwardness and felt a bit helpless himself, speaking gently, "Let’s go check out my room, I need to put something away."
"Okay," Windsor Myres quickly stood up.
She followed Camden River upstairs.
The River Family’s lobby was nearly circular, with a high ceiling. The corridor upstairs almost circled the outer layer. As she reached to hold Camden River’s arm, everyone noticed. She entered the room and casually closed the door, causing Troy River’s long eyebrows to frown.
Chloe laughed, "Camden’s girlfriend seems quite lively."
Lively?
Troy River glanced at her, speaking coolly, "Let’s focus on cooking, the kids must be hungry after the long trip."
"I’ll go then."
"Auntie, I’ll come with you."
"I told you, you’re a guest. Just sit and watch TV."
"It’s fine, I’m always helping my mom cook at home too. She’s traveling lately, so I’m quite bored by myself," Rosy Harris laughed softly as she followed Chloe to the kitchen.
Chloe didn’t hold back and chatted with her as they walked.
Cousin River carried the fruit platter outside, glanced at Troy River, and smiled, "It’s normal for Camden to have a girlfriend now that he’s interning. Look at your expression, have some watermelon to cool down."
"Hmm," Troy River took a piece of watermelon, speaking in a low voice, "He hasn’t found a job yet, and now he’s bringing a girlfriend home."
"That girl looks quite pretty."
"Can beauty feed you?" Troy River gave her a look, "She only let Camden pick her up at our doorstep. Have you ever seen such an indecent young lady? Wearing a skirt like that, her behavior isn’t as proper as Rosy’s, and they’re about the same age, right?"
"Ahem," Cousin River chuckled awkwardly, "That’s just how skirts are these days, showing one shoulder is very common."
Troy River glanced at her and said nothing more.
His eyes were filled with displeasure.
Windsor Myres wore a light blue one-shoulder knee-length dress, which for her wasn’t considered sexy or revealing.
But—
She couldn’t hide her good figure; the tight dress showed her natural curves vividly.
Cousin River wasn’t even thirty yet and could accept it, but Troy River was already over sixty, his aesthetic never changed; he most appreciated gentle and polite girls, struggled to accept those who were bold and passionate, let alone the hot and sexy types.
Besides, he never expected his son to bring home a girlfriend like this.
Troy River’s gaze remained fixed on Camden River’s room door.
