Chapter 266: Free Slavery

He shifted on the bed and pulled a fluffy pillow under his head.

"It is better if we get a byproduct which is useful out of this process. But if we can’t then it is fine. I just want it gone. I want the whole city smelling good and I want the hygiene brought up to a really good level. Just give me a list of methods in which I can deal with this."

[Affirmative.]

[Simulating multiple scenarios...]

[Calculating optimal monster configurations...]

Adrian just laid there staring at the screen. He waited for a few minutes but the system didn’t give him an immediate answer. The exhaustion of the carriage ride along with the comfy bed was more than enough to turn his brain down temporarily.

He drifted into sleep.

Almost twenty minutes later a noise rang inside his head.

Ding.

Adrian immediately snapped his eyes open. His whole body jerked slightly and he quickly sat up. He rubbed his face and looked at the system screen hovering in front of him.

He saw that the system basically took twenty whole minutes to only give him three different methods.

[Found the three most optimal methods.]

[Option 1]

[Create a monster that is quick and can carry heavy loads to move all of the wastes to a different site. Then create a different monster that can deal with all of the wastes by destroying it. Fire magic can be very useful for this destruction process.]

[Option 2]

[Create a monster that consumes the waste matter directly. This method would also require the first process which is transporting the wastes to a designated feeding zone.]

[Option 3]

[Use a complicated drainage system to move the wastes automatically on their own to the site before using one of the two previous monster types to either destroy the whole waste or consume it.]

Adrian looked at the three blocks of text and his eye twitched.

"You are not even giving me a proper solution here."

He glared at the blue screen.

"All three of them require some sort of transportation, sure. And the main part that is dealing with the waste is literally just telling me to either destroy it or consume it in a vague way."

[Yes.]

Adrian let out a loud sigh and fell back onto the mattress.

"Okay."

He laid there and thought about it for a few minutes.

"Okay. Drainage systems can be a little good. They are more automatic because there is no need for people to work and maintain the whole thing every single time someone uses the bathroom."

He crossed his arms behind his head.

"But I would still need to keep a few people hired just to make sure that this whole pipe network is maintained in a good way. Which is sort of not a great thing. It works and it always worked on Earth. But right now... digging underground and making a massive plumbing system when I already built all those giant apartments is going to be a huge pain in the ass. On top of that, I know nothing about plumbing..."

He let out another heavy sigh and shook his head.

The tall apartments he built already had their own sort of waste management system which was more native to this world. But it was a really primitive method.

The toilets that were shared among the whole apartment complex were basically just wooden boxes or in a way large barrels. People would excrete into a wooden pipe that would go pretty deep underground. But this pipe was always connected straight to barrels sitting in a dark basement.

And there was always one unlucky person stationed underground in a sealed chamber that had a connection back to the surface through a circular stairway. This person would regularly have to switch the barrels once they got full.

The filled barrels would be hauled up and transported away on carts once enough of them were filled. These were all dumped into a specific site that was pretty far away from Oresfall.

It was more like a massive landfill.

But Adrian knew that after almost two years of doing this, that place would be stinking like crazy. He didn’t really want to concentrate all of the toxic waste into one single place because it was an environmental disaster waiting to happen.

And the primitive method also caused a big issue right in the middle of his city. Transporting the barrels wasn’t really a good thing because there was always a leak. The carts went over uneven stones and foul liquid spilled onto the roads.

There was also the constant issue of splattering when the workers had to swap the heavy wooden barrels out in a hurry.

And the people themselves weren’t even used to these medieval forms of toilets. A lot of the citizens just did it wherever they wanted. Especially urinating. They would just piss in alleyways or behind shops which just frustrated Adrian even more.

’It is time to put a ban on people from doing whatever the fuck they want in this city.’

He let out a soft sigh and thought about the plumbing issue and the other options that he could use.

Until now he had actual humans do the whole transportation and collection process. They were the ones doing the switching of the barrels. But now he knew that he had a different option. Thanks to his second dungeon, he could now bring monsters out into the real world.

Which only meant one thing.

"Free labor mwehehehehe." he said and laughed like something was wrong with his head.

He didn’t have to deal with the people working at these places getting sick anymore. There were cases in the past where he had to completely replace the workers who dealt with all of the human waste because they caught severe infections. Monsters wouldn’t care about bacteria, especially his undead.

Adrian looked back at his system screen.

"I have a way to do the transportation thing now. I just want you to give me a few specific mutations. Do some calculations or simulations or whatever you do usually and tell me which ones work."
