"Chuchu, hurry in. You all be more careful, so the hail doesn’t damage the house. Go see if there’s any place that needs reinforcement," Yin Yang promptly instructed.
The house here had been tidied up by them almost completely. Due to the earthquake, Yin Yang had already had the places that needed reinforcement strengthened.
But now it was snowing, and he was worried that the areas recently reinforced might have been damaged again.
After reinforcing everywhere that needed it, this small courtyard, built only a few years ago, was intact. Except for the violently broken door when they first arrived, there weren’t many places needing reinforcement.
Watching the hail outside grow larger, from grain-sized to soybean-sized, Xu Mumu felt a bit uncertain inside.
By the next day, Xu Mumu was utterly tense, and the others followed suit. Even though they didn’t know what would happen, they trusted Xu Mumu wouldn’t deceive them about the potential danger.
The house had already been reinforced with existing tools and gold attribute superpowers, and Yin Yang had also led an inspection.
Just past ten o’clock, the ground began to shake slightly. Though it was still hailing outside, Xu Mumu and the others rushed out immediately as the tremor’s intensity increased.
"It’s an earthquake," Yin Chuchu held a large umbrella, and the hail nearly broke its fabric.
"Don’t be afraid," Xu Mumu softly reassured Yin Chuchu.
The shaking grew stronger, and Xu Mumu and the others started to struggle to stand.
Sounds of buildings collapsing came from outside, and Xu Mumu looked over to see that it was some nearby houses.
The small courtyard they were in had been reinforced several times by Yin Yang and showed no sign of collapsing yet.
"Brother, our house won’t collapse, will it?" Yin Chuchu asked cautiously, worried that the courtyard they lived in might collapse, as she didn’t want to stay outside in such cold weather.
"It shouldn’t," Yin Yang replied in a deep voice.
The ground continued to tremble, and Xu Mumu held onto the dead loquat tree trunk outside, feeling a sinking sensation in her heart.
After several minutes, the earthquake finally stopped.
"The earthquake stopped, it finally stopped," Yin Wanqiu said excitedly.
"Not so fast," Xu Mumu shook her head. She remembered this earthquake was enormous, and it had just started; bigger ones were imminent.
Soon, as Xu Mumu expected, the earthquake hit again in less than half an hour, and it was stronger.
The entire day, the earthquake recurred repeatedly. At its peak, Xu Mumu couldn’t stand at all and had to sit on the ground.
Their house, although reinforced multiple times, partially collapsed but was still habitable.
While sleeping at night, there were occasional small aftershocks. The house had been reinforced again, and with the biggest earthquake over, they could rest well for now.
These minor aftershocks didn’t concern Xu Mumu, who didn’t even bother to get up.
Several nighttime aftershocks roused Yin Chuchu and the others, but seeing they weren’t severe, they went back to sleep, following Xu Mumu’s example.
The zombies outside where Xu Mumu and the others were had mostly been cleared, so the area was relatively stable.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t as secure. The sudden earthquake caused many newly built bases to collapse massively, facing large-scale zombie attacks at night.
Throughout the night, numerous small bases’ fates were decided, including the Guanghua Base Xu Mumu and the others had planned to visit.
When Xu Mumu and the others woke up, they saw various messages on their phones. Xu Mumu was a bit dazed, as only a few of Hua Country’s large national bases used these phones now.
The messages stated that every base had encountered zombie attacks and many small bases had fallen.
Many survivors in small bases were either eaten by zombies or fled with their families.
The Imperial City base’s loss was relatively minor; due to Xu Mumu’s warning, even if they didn’t fully believe it, they reinforced the base. Thus, the Imperial City’s loss in the earthquake was minimal.
The Imperial City base was also the most formidable among all bases. When the zombie tide arrived, not only did the military help to resist, but numerous superpower users were present, resulting in countless casualties after the zombie wave.
Other bases were even more grievous, making the Imperial City base leader visibly upset. They had warned them, but those fools persisted in their ways. Now they’re paying the price.
With the apocalypse already upon them, fewer than one in ten survived. After this zombie wave, survivor numbers plummeted again.
Reading these messages, Xu Mumu’s emotions were complicated, though the situation was slightly better than what she’d known in her previous life.
After this zombie wave, the zombie numbers rose again.
Xu Mumu irritably tossed her phone aside. Yin Peng called to check on how Yin Yang and the others were doing.
Only after confirming they were all okay did he relax.
Xu Mumu held the Reincarnation Jade in her hand, and the little elf’s voice was filled with amazement.
"Mumu, Mumu, two crystals have appeared again from the Reincarnation Jade. You’ve made a great contribution this time." Two pea-sized purple crystals appeared in Xu Mumu’s hand.
"Does killing zombies also upgrade the Reincarnation Jade?" Xu Mumu asked in surprise.
"Of course, your decisions saved countless lives, so it counts," the little elf said earnestly, in high spirits.
After the Reincarnation Jade’s advancement, forming energy crystals became even more challenging.
Feeling the rich energy within these two crystals, the little elf wanted to drool. However, these were gifts from the Reincarnation Jade for the host; she couldn’t take them.
"Can you help me send this crystal back to Doudou?" Xu Mumu asked, holding the two crystals.
"No need to send it back. Keep them; once you absorb this crystal core, you’ll be able to return to the previous world by yourself," the little elf said excitedly.
"What do you mean?" Xu Mumu clutched the two crystals tightly.
"This is the Reincarnation Jade’s gift to the host, the energy essence of the Reincarnation Jade. Just one, once you’ve fully refined it, is enough for a complete evolution, allowing you to return to the previous world by yourself. I never imagined the Reincarnation Jade could produce such crystals," the little elf said with extreme envy.
"Are you telling the truth?" Xu Mumu’s voice trembled, and if it were true, she wanted to go back to accompany her parents, to hold her son and tell him she missed him dearly.
