The moment the vault door opened, Su Ze flew inside as if he owned the place.
Mr. Wu hurriedly followed, sticking close to Su Ze to ensure the security of the company’s assets.
Even from outside, Su Ze had already sensed that the object in the vault that drew him in the most was a box made of Sinking Lead, located on the top floor.
Sinking Lead could block energy fluctuations, but it was no match for Su Ze’s Perception Tentacles. He had already determined that the box contained a Scorpion Tail Needle!
And it was a Tier 6 wondrous item.
The boxes on the vault’s top floor all contained Tier 6 wondrous items or extracts.
Based on the appearance of this Tier 6 wondrous item, Su Ze already suspected it could upgrade his Needle Strike skill.
After all, the Needle Strike skill had originally come from the Tier 2 aberrant beast, the Rock Scorpion.
"Mr. Wu, how much for the item in this box?" Su Ze asked.
Mr. Wu’s expression changed. He couldn’t understand how Su Ze had zeroed in on the contents of this box the moment he entered, without even opening it for a look.
’Could he have some way of seeing through Sinking Lead?’
"I’m sorry, Mr. Su, but the items on the vault’s top floor are not for sale. They are part of Evolutionary Technology’s private collection."
’Nothing is truly "not for sale." It just means the price isn’t tempting enough.’
Whether it was a Tier 6 wondrous item or an extract, it was a top-tier strategic resource—the kind of thing money couldn’t buy.
Su Ze knew this feeling all too well. As his evolutionary level rose, money and points from any faction were becoming nothing more than numbers to him.
The things he truly wanted couldn’t be bought, no matter the points.
Take this Tier 6 wondrous item, for instance. Evolutionary Technology would never agree to sell it, no matter how many points Su Ze offered.
However, Su Ze already had a plan. He smiled and said, "Mr. Wu, don’t be so quick to refuse. I understand you don’t want to sell, but what about a trade?"
A flicker of interest crossed Mr. Wu’s face. "What does Mr. Su intend to trade? To be frank, this box contains a powerful Tier 6 wondrous item. If we’re going to make a trade, whatever you offer can be nothing less than Tier 6."
He stated his terms upfront to quash any ideas Su Ze might have about trading multiple Tier 5 items for it.
"As for a Tier 6 item, I don’t have a suitable one on me, however..." Su Ze’s tone shifted. "What would you say to a Tier 7 item?"
Mr. Wu’s expression changed drastically. His first reaction was that Su Ze was joking. No Tier 7 lifeforms had appeared on Blue Star yet, so where could he possibly have gotten a Tier 7 item?
But then he remembered Su Ze’s status as a prominent figure; he wasn’t one to make empty boasts. And he especially recalled the rumors that Su Ze had a good relationship with the great tree in Miracle Oasis...
"May I see it first?" Mr. Wu asked in a low voice, dismissing his subordinates with a wave.
Su Ze then retrieved a Tier 7 material from his Storage Ring.
He had harvested quite a few Tier 7 materials from the spaceship’s Central Treasure Vault, most of which he had no use for.
Evolutionary materials were typically used in one of a few ways: absorbed by evolvers to strengthen skills, used in alchemy, or crafted into special items and weapons.
Blue Star lacked the corresponding alchemical formulas for these alien materials. For now, aside from giving them to Liou Wenxin to study, Su Ze had no other use for them.
If he could trade them for the upgrade materials he needed, he certainly wouldn’t hesitate.
There was no need to hide the material’s origin. The major powers all knew of his close relationship with the Oasis Mother Tree, so it wasn’t surprising that he would have some Tier 7 materials.
Mr. Wu’s eyes widened as he stared at the scale in Su Ze’s hand, which pulsed with a purple light. That purple evolutionary glow was proof enough of the material’s tier. He carefully took it, holding it up high to examine it in detail.
He looked as though he were scrutinizing the rarest treasure in the world.
"Mr. Su, could you tell me this material’s name and its uses?"
"Of course. This scale comes from an alien aberrant beast called a Stellar Fish. It can be used to create potions that enhance skin Defense Power, and it’s also a suitable material for upgrading carapace-type defense skills."
"This... a Tier 7 material... Don’t tell me it can upgrade a skill into a Divine Skill?"
Su Ze shrugged. "I wouldn’t rule out the possibility."
Su Ze hadn’t been lying about the Tier 7 material’s uses. But as for upgrading a skill into a Divine Skill? That was a complete fabrication.
Divine Skills weren’t so easy to come by. It wasn’t as simple as having a Tier 6 skill absorb a few compatible Tier 7 materials to raise it to Tier 7.
Even King Mu had said that one had to fuse multiple Tier 6 skills together to even have a chance at creating a Divine Skill.
But since Mr. Wu had been the one to ask, Su Ze certainly wasn’t going to deny it.
Mr. Wu’s heart pounded with temptation. In truth, he didn’t much care that the Stellar Fish scale could be used to make evolutionary potions. After all, they didn’t know the formula, and even if they did, they would surely be unable to gather the other ingredients.
As an upgrade material, however, the scale was incredibly appealing.
He wasn’t a fool. Seeing Su Ze’s ambiguous reply, he knew the chances of using this material to create a Divine Skill were slim. However, upgrading a regular skill directly to the peak of Tier 6 would be no problem at all, and that alone made it immensely valuable.
Furthermore, the material held immense research value for Evolutionary Technology. After all, it was a Tier 7 material—something they had never even seen before.
If they could develop some practical technologies from studying it, the profits would be immeasurable—far more meaningful than a Tier 6 wondrous item left to collect dust in the vault.
