Chapter 542 - 332: Harvest in the Inheritance Treasure Vault

The inner Inheritance Space was surrounded on all sides—above, below, and all around—by a flowing blue luminescence, creating an unreal sensation, as if one were in a dream.

But it was precisely this feeling of unreality that made it feel real to Su Ze.

Otherwise, with that giant butterfly’s ability to construct dreamscapes, he never would have been able to spot any flaws.

Directly in front of Su Ze stood a massive stone gate. On its surface were four indentations, matching the shapes of the four puzzle pieces.

Needless to say, this was the true core inheritance. Only by collecting all four puzzle pieces could it be opened.

On each side of the stone gate were two half-man-sized Inheritance Treasure Vaults.

Three of the four Inheritance Treasure Vaults had already been opened, which meant that the fourth puzzle piece had already been claimed by someone!

Originally, Su Ze had learned the location of the fourth inheritance point and planned to head straight there after leaving this place to get his hands on the fourth puzzle piece as soon as possible.

But clearly, in the decade-plus since King Mu’s last visit, someone had already beaten him to it.

In that case, Su Ze was no longer in a hurry to rush to the fourth inheritance point.

Besides, even though the fourth puzzle piece was already taken, knowing the location of the fourth inheritance point wasn’t entirely meaningless.

The person who discovered the fourth inheritance and obtained the puzzle piece was most likely an evolutionary active in that vicinity. Later, Su Ze could go to that area to ask around and search. At least he would have a lead, instead of searching the whole world like a headless fly.

’For now, I should just focus on getting the treasure from the Inheritance Treasure Vault.’

Su Ze walked over and stood before the only unopened Inheritance Treasure Vault. Though it was called a vault, it was really just a large box connected to the floor. It simply looked very high-tech, like an advanced safe out of a sci-fi movie.

The vault’s body was made of some unknown material; neither his Perception Tentacles nor his Spiritual Power could penetrate it. Without even trying, Su Ze could guess that it was far too sturdy for him to break.

On the floor directly in front of the vault, there was another indentation, its shape a perfect match for the first puzzle piece in Su Ze’s hand.

He crouched down and fitted the first puzzle piece into the indentation.

CLICK!

With a soft click, the first puzzle piece fit perfectly into the indentation. It was so seamless that not a single gap was visible. The precision was astounding.

There were no dazzling special effects or flashes of light. The moment the puzzle piece was set, the large box popped open with a THUMP.

Its perfunctory opening made Su Ze feel as if he had just opened a suitcase.

And the contents of the box left Su Ze stunned.

Although each of the four Inheritance Treasure Vaults was half the size of a person, Su Ze knew that they most likely contained only a single treasure each.

King Mu had only obtained a single Golden Bloodline Crystal from his Inheritance Treasure Vault, and the Shadowless Divine Thief had also confessed to finding only one Golden Bloodline Crystal in his. This led Su Ze to assume that he, too, would receive a Golden Bloodline Crystal.

He had even been planning to use the Golden Bloodline Crystal he received for his next extraction.

But now the vault lay open, and inside was not the Golden Bloodline Crystal he had expected, but a... magic cube?

Su Ze paused, then reached for the magic cube. The instant his fingers touched it, a stream of information flowed into his mind, revealing the cube’s true nature.

’So it’s a spaceship.’

At the same time, Su Ze suddenly felt a piercing pain all over his body, as if countless needles were stabbing him from every direction.

The piercing pain seemed to emanate from some kind of power radiating from the Inheritance Treasure Vault; the vault was rejecting him.

Su Ze instantly recalled King Mu’s experience. The first time King Mu had come to the inner inheritance and opened a treasure vault, he had suffered a Soul Attack and nearly died because his soul was not of the Human Race.

’But I’m a genuine member of the Human Race, so why am I being attacked?’

He thought of the foulness within his body; that was likely the reason he was suffering this needle-like attack.

Fortunately, the attack wasn’t strong, and the pain was bearable. This was likely because he wasn’t a truly corrupted being, but only partially affected by the foul genes.

Su Ze endured the piercing pain, picked up the magic cube, and immediately backed away from the Inheritance Treasure Vault. The painful, full-body sensation vanished at once.

The magic cube began to rotate slowly in his hand, projecting a beam of light that established a spiritual link with him.

"Bind to the Magic Cube?"

’Magic Cube?’

Processing the information in his mind, Su Ze was momentarily stunned, but then he nodded. "Bind!"

"Recording fingerprint data..."

"Recording iris data..."

"Recording genetic data..."

"Recording spiritual data..."

"Binding complete!"

"Congratulations! You are now the master of the Magic Cube!"

Su Ze immediately felt a persistent connection form between himself and the small magic cube. All sorts of information about the "Magic Cube" spaceship—including its operating instructions, parameters, and a feature overview—appeared in his mind like a manual he could peruse at will.

’I can’t believe I have my own spaceship now,’ Su Ze mused as he processed the vessel’s various specifications.

He had only ever seen one spaceship before—the Tree Spirit Race vessel that belonged to the master of the Mother Tree—so he couldn’t help but compare the two.

When shrunk down, the Tree Spirit Race ship resembled a green gemstone. The "Magic Cube" clearly had a similar function, shrinking down into the form of a magic cube.

As for its enlarged form, the manual described it as having even more space than the Tree Spirit Race ship.

But a spaceship’s value wasn’t determined by its size; speed and defense were far more important.
