Seth scowled at the sight of the price. Never would he imagine a price for a flash sale could be so expensive!
The 3.7 million balance he had was earned from blood and sweat, and he was expected to spend so much in a single go?
His heart ached, as for the first time he considered rejecting a sale... But he couldn’t bring himself to.
The flash sale’s products never disappointed — that was a fact. Knowing this, his greed couldn’t help but provoke the consideration that this was a divine item of sorts.
"Damn it, and the details had to be locked!" He cursed under his breath.
For the first time, he felt the locked details to be a pain. He wanted to know if this item would be worth it.
But glancing at the price, it told the story of quality, though he was still hesitant.
Heck, who wouldn’t be? He had been on a luck streak since he acquired the system; he couldn’t expect every sale to be perfect.
Seth’s mind processed this consideration with his full cognitive capacity, making myriads of thoughts flash in that split second, still giving him a second to spare.
Realizing he couldn’t keep considering for long, Seth had no choice. His hand moved, his heart aching, and his fingers trembling, devoid of the initial enthusiasm.
He clicked on the purchase a split second before the flash sale could go dull, and he saw in real time as the flash points were deducted and his balance count reduced.
His eyes twitched as a congratulatory message flashed.
[Congratulations! You have purchased "Grim Bone Spear"]
His heart brewed with a sweet-bitter feeling seeing the flash. His head arched back, his finger pinching his nose and his eyes closed, as he readied himself to examine what he bought.
"Fuck it! Details!" He ordered, willing for the information...
[Weapon: Grim Bone Spear]
[Rank: Awakened (Evolvable)]
[Grade: Noble (Evolvable)]
[Passive Effect:]
Universal Pierce (penetrates defense of all Awakened Rank creatures of the Noble grade and below)
Unquenched Thirst (all damage dealt cannot be healed...)
[Active Abilities:]
Duplication: The spear can multiply in quantity endlessly, as long as the required essence is provided.
Bone Eruption: All duplicates of the Grim Bone Spear are endowed with the ability to explode. (Explosion damage depends on the amount of essence units supplied and user’s essence density.)
Seth’s gaze narrowed at the sight...
"Item grades can be evolvable?" He whispered in silent contemplation.
Eyes flashing, if it really was evolvable and the limits didn’t stop at the Monarch grade, then Seth would have to admit the price was worth it.
Thinking to this point, he read through the abilities. After all, as high of a grade this weapon might be, if its passive effects and active abilities weren’t useful or were redundant, it still wouldn’t matter.
Reading through both sections, Seth didn’t know how to feel about it, because he just felt it was all basic.
The only thing that caught his eyes was the Universal Pierce — the ability to penetrate all defense of creatures and items of the Noble grade Awakened Rank and below.
And the reason he was intrigued by the description was that it made him wonder: if he increased the item’s grade, wouldn’t the Universal Pierce capability also increase by a grade too?
If that really was so, then this passive effect alone made this item very powerful.
But for the others? Well, Seth felt they were indeed impressive but not enough to move him, especially since the price was so high.
He expected damage boosts, attack speed boosts, heck, even an elemental passive trait or active ability would have been fine.
But compared to his expectations, it felt quite lackluster...
"Let’s check the grade increase requirements first..." He sighed, tapping the flashing evolvable option simmering by the item’s grade display.
The details immediately popped up...
[Item Grade Evolution Requirements!: Feed the weapon bone marrow extract from 0/100 enemies.]
Seth raised a brow in surprise. The requirements were quite easier than he expected.
He assumed the evolution would ask for ridiculous tasks, something he possibly couldn’t pull off in short time.
But this was actually quite reasonable. Putting aside the fact that a literal war was going to begin soon, Seth could as well comb through the Savage Oasis back in the Origin Realm.
With his prowess and killing efficiency, he could meet the requirements in at most a day and a half.
He scratched his chin, ready to summon the item, to check it out, get a feel of the weight and balance — if it would be a lightweight or a heavy spear.
But before he could actualize this thought...
[Flash Sale Available!]
[Gene Skill Crystal: Vital Overflow!]
[Details: ??? (Available on Purchase)]
[Price: 1,890,000 FP]
[Balance: 2,299,111 FP]
[Timer: 3s]
Seth’s face twisted into a pained scowl, almost pulling on his hair from frustration. Since when did the flash sale system start charging such exorbitant prices!
This thing was so price-friendly before — what changed?
Did it undergo a hidden upgrade he wasn’t aware of?
Or was it that it felt his wealth was too rich and decided to charge him so exaggeratedly?
His expression grew darker at the reality that the reason wouldn’t matter, and he would still have to make a purchase.
Before this flash sale streak started, he had so much confidence in his balance previously, but now?
He feared if he didn’t earn enough Flash Sale points before the next offer popped up, he wouldn’t even be able to afford it.
He gritted his teeth, glancing at the price again, his heart aching so bad it was as though an enemy sunk a dagger and twisted it through the vital organ.
But in the end, the allure of the flash sale won over his cheapskate mentality.
His finger trembling even harder than the last, his heart aching badly from the loss, he punched on the purchase option.
[Congratulations! You have purchased "Gene Skill Crystal (Vital Overflow)"]
This time, staring at the congratulatory message, there was no rush of dopamine and zero expectation from his side...
Only a humble heart filled with prayer to the goddess of luck. "Please let it be worth it!" He prayed silently, eyes closed.
Unable to bear the suspense, it didn’t take long for him to will on the details...
The screen flickered into view, disregarding his closed lids. The interface flashed, revealing his fate.
