The Law Enforcer threatened Wu Tian, banking on his connection to the Divine Emperor.
Hearing the arrogant words, Wu Tian simply spat out two words with disdain: "You fool!"
"How dare you speak to a Law Enforcer like that?" The Monkey King, hearing this, arrived with his ministers in tow. He stood behind the Law Enforcer, sensing an opportunity to curry favor. They all glared at Wu Tian like tigers watching their prey, beginning to criticize him one by one.
"If not for the Law Enforcer’s benevolence, you’d already be dead."
"Indeed. Wu Tian, you may have gained some notoriety recently, but don’t get arrogant. The Law Enforcers are entirely different from anyone you’ve dealt with before."
"Will you not surrender and be captured?"
Seeing the Monkey King and his ministers act this way, the Law Enforcer smiled with satisfaction. "You’ve spoken well. I will remember your loyalty."
"Thank you," the Monkey King replied immediately. If the Law Enforcers were just a little more lenient, turning a blind eye now and then, the Monkey Kingdom could accomplish so much more—like expanding its territory and further oppressing its people...
"Wu Tian, do you hear me? Imprisoning you for ten years is already an act of great mercy," the Law Enforcer bellowed. "Now, tell me your choice."
"You deserve to die."
Wu Tian snorted and strode forward. A Law Enforcer was protected by the Emperor’s Light. One could harm him, but killing him would be extremely difficult, even for someone in a higher Realm.
As Wu Tian advanced, a smirk played on the Law Enforcer’s lips. "I am protected by the Emperor’s Light. What can you possibly do to me?"
The Law Enforcer advanced as well, but as he drew closer to Wu Tian, the Emperor’s Light began to dissipate bit by bit, until it vanished completely.
"How can this be?" Noticing this, the Law Enforcer cried out in alarm.
"What in the world is happening?" The Monkey King and his ministers were also stunned, completely baffled.
One of the ministers, a knowledgeable man with a white beard, explained, "The protection of the Emperor’s Light isn’t omnipotent. First, if an opponent’s strength is a Major Realm higher than the bearer’s, the light is useless. Second, if it encounters another Emperor, the Emperor’s Light will vanish."
"Now that the Emperor’s Light has disappeared, could it be that..." The Monkey King’s body trembled as he mumbled, not daring to finish his thought.
The others around him also looked horrified.
"No, impossible." The Monkey King and the others all shook their heads. Wu Tian, an Immortal Emperor? In their eyes, that was simply impossible. So what other reason could there be for the Emperor’s Light to vanish on its own?
"There is one other possibility," the same minister said. "He has been abandoned by the Divine Emperor."
"NO!" the Law Enforcer roared. "Divine Emperor! What have I done wrong?"
The Law Enforcer had also considered this possibility and felt it was the only explanation. He roared, wept, and raged. He had never seen the Divine Emperor in person. He had only sworn an oath before the Divine Emperor’s statue to serve his entire life as a Law Enforcer, to slave away for him loyally. In return, he had received the protection of the Emperor’s Light. Now that the light was gone, he was overcome with sorrow, as if driven mad.
"Die!"
Wu Tian couldn’t be bothered to lift a finger against such a man. The silver mark of the Heavenly Eye on his forehead flashed. Instantly, a sharp white beam radiating a chilling aura shot out. This white light exuded a piercing majesty that made everyone present gasp in alarm at the mere sight of it.
"I’ll give you everything I’ve got!" the Law Enforcer snarled, gritting his teeth and charging directly into the white beam.
BOOM! An explosion erupted with sky-high flames, and the Law Enforcer was dead.
Watching this, the crimson bird’s pupils contracted sharply. I have to get back and report this! It immediately spread its wings and took flight.
Wu Tian saw this but remained standing quietly. The power of the Heavenly Eye on his forehead flared once more. In a flash of white light, the crimson bird was scorched and plummeted from the sky. The people there would surely be thrilled, thinking a Divinity had blessed them with food.
Watching this unfold, everyone from the Monkey King to Lan Niang was utterly shocked. A sense of dread bloomed in their hearts, growing stronger by the second.
My gods, he even killed a Law Enforcer! The nearby Law Enforcers will surely sense their comrade’s death and come for blood! What the Monkey King and his court truly feared was the consequence: a Law Enforcer had been killed in their kingdom. If the new arrivals decided to hold them accountable, what would they do?
"Now... what do we do now?" The Monkey King was at his wit’s end, his face pale with worry.
He was no wise sovereign. If he had been, the Divine Monkey Great General would never have rebelled. He was just a timid monkey, born with the fate of a king. Had he been born into an ordinary family, this Monkey King would have been nothing more than an unremarkable monkey who accomplished nothing.
One of the ministers thought for a moment and said, "The nearby Law Enforcers will have sensed what happened and will arrive soon. If we do nothing, they will surely blame us as well. As things stand, our only choice is to..." He trailed off.
"Speak freely," the Monkey King ordered.
Some organizations possessed telepathic techniques. When one member died, others nearby would know instantly, including the exact location of the incident. If they did nothing, the Monkey King feared he would lose his throne. As a monkey with thirty-six beautiful she-monkeys in his harem, he was not about to let another have them.
"There’s only one way," the minister declared, presenting his idea. "We must show the Law Enforcers that we did everything we could. That means we have to attack Wu Tian now."
The other ministers were stunned. Forget the Civil Officials—even the military commanders wouldn’t dare to move against Wu Tian. The most powerful of them, the Divine Monkey Great General, had already died at his hands. For them to go now would be suicide.
"If we don’t, when the Law Enforcers arrive, heheh..." As the minister spoke, the faces of the other officials changed. They had no desire to be imprisoned. Rumor had it that the prisons built by the Law Enforcers were completely devoid of light. To be unable to see was a truly terrifying prospect.
Seeing his colleagues still hesitating, the minister snorted. "If we attack together, not all of us will necessarily die. We just need to hold on until the Law Enforcers arrive, and we’ll be fine. Of course, a few of us will certainly perish."
They exchanged glances. At this point, their only option was to attack Wu Tian together. They could only hope that the Law Enforcers would arrive before Wu Tian could slaughter them all. In the best-case scenario, the Law Enforcers would appear just as Wu Tian began his attack, and none of them would die.
Not far away, Wu Tian watched the Monkey King and his retinue with an amused smirk. "Think carefully," he sneered. "I kill any and all who try to kill me."
In the Immortal Emperor Realm, Wu Tian never showed mercy! Those who deserved death, he killed without fail!
The Monkey King roared, "You dare to kill even a Law Enforcer! How can this king tolerate your existence?"
"Kill!"
At his command, the Monkey King led his ministers, soldiers, and the rest of his court in a charge toward Wu Tian.
